Only five minutes in and I'm already absolutely in love with the humorous "Americanisation" of the story! Thank you also for the introduction by Agatha Christie herself--a true gem as she refers to her character as her friend.

This batch of old time radio recordings was a rare find. Harold Huber's take on the character was truly golden. We're glad you liked it. 😉🙏Please check out the other "Americanisation" episodes in Hercule Poirot US Adventures playlist.

I enjoyed these readers’ voices very much! I subscribed & hope to find more soon… It’s sad what passes on audiobooks for good delivery when there’s no character behind the voice at all

We can completely relate to what you've experienced. There was a Poirot novel audiobook with our dear sleuth with a British accent, which kind of like a buzzkill as per our lowly tastes. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. More of Poirot in a few days. 😄🎉🙌

The actor sounds like one who was in some of Charlie Chan's movies.

Pretty sharp hearing and memory you have there! A little googling shows that the voice actor, Harold Huber, was indeed in several Charlie Chan movies portraying different roles. These include an American in Charlie Chan on Broadway and as a French officer (which may have well served as a practice for him for the Hercule Poirot character) in Charlie Chan in Monte Carlo. Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts. :)

Would it be possible to publish the name of the Art work / artist used in your videos? Fantastic ! Im a huge fan / collector of 1940- early 1960's advertising art. Classic , Clean and interesting subject matter. Just a request. The bedroom scene in this one is of particular interest to me. Well done story interpretation. I often believe I was born from the period just pryor to to the year of my birth, reincarnated rather quickly? Always very drawn to that Everything about those 30 years ,Fashion was so elegant then. Now people run around in tatty clothes and their pajamas and Flip Flops. Sad to see the Casual degradation of personal style. One can tell quickly by the first 5 seconds of introduction or notice of appearances of personal Visual effects.✨ If there is an answer to these questions ,please PM via my vontact information in this comment. Thank you .

I'm so glad someone took time out to comment on the artwork🎨. Our conceptual designer will be happy to learn that his efforts in sitting down and listening to the broadcast intently to immerse himself in the scenes paid off. The "artist"👩‍🎨 is residing in his brain🧠☺, visualizing the scene and then using a software (a cheap one at that) to put it all together. You'll find similar visuals in this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYCqdml5ebyZgMU Again thank you for appreciating our hard work.

What a find! Didn't realize such a show existed. I can see why Poirot is in N.Y. instead of London but I wonder if the program ever took off in America and how long it lasted.

So far, our searches (for now at least) yielded 9 radio show recordings of Hercule Poirot US Adventures, all of which were broadcast in 1945. All 9 recordings are available in our playlist. While John Moffat is an established voice for Hercule, actor Harold Huber gave his Poirot character a completely different twist. Some in the Spatial Fidelity team even think that he portrayed the character better. 😀Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts.🙏

I remember watching the stories on CKLW--Canadian TV which we could pick-up in Michigan. The show was so sweet, showing the animals in their natural habitat while the narrator read the story. It kept me from crying when my big sister had to leave for school--@1957-58?? I wonder if the TV show could be located somewhere. I believe it was filmed in England.

It's because it's for an American audience. Like everything they think they wont understand what a bowler hat is. As for the Ustinov Panama hat that was because the story was set in a hot country and it was the norm for English men to wear them when on holiday.

Thank you for the input. 🙏😊Peter Ustinov surely added a new dimension to the character of Hercule Poirot. He truly owned the role of a small Belgian crime genius even though he hovered around 6 feet tall.

Our team is kind of split when it comes to Poirot's headwear. The older guys are partial to bowler hats while the younger gens are dependent on their grandparents' paperback collection illustrations, hence imagine the Belgian sleuth in a fedora.

Much as we'd like to stay true to the character of our diminutive Belgian sleuth, it's either a hit or a miss with our young skills and tech.😁 Rest assured that your feedback is taken into serious account and pushes us even more to do better next time. We think our more recent upload shows a correct headpiece🤠🎩 for Mr. Poirot. Thank you very much for your feedback.🙏

@@Failte630 One of our older guys remembers watching Death on the Nile and he distinctly remembers Peter Ustinov wearing a Panama hat (similar to the one shown in the video). A quick googling of the movie also shows his Poirot character wearing a pith or Safari hat. 😀 Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you for your feedback. 😉 Our team chose to be more forgiving of this original recording because of the rudimentary (by today's standards) audio equipment that the techs had back in 1945. We'd like to point you towards remastered, high-fidelity version of this recording, but we don't know of any. Again, we appreciate that you took time out to share your thoughts. 🙏😊

It's not awful. It's old radio. Don't listen if you don't like it. I'm enjoying it for what it is - a glimpse (well, figuratively) into the past, and a fine piece of work.
