The best part of this for me is that my grandad owns this exact car that was driven on the show and it's soooo fun to be in

Your grandad owns the showcar/prototype Prowler? For real? I've thought it is in museum or something...

99 model has 253 hp I think. They were pretty kind in this video, and taking it out of Drive and into neutral, then back into Drive at the end was the opposite of cool XD

Plymouth made a srsly cool car in the Prowler. the 3.5L made 253 hp, about the same as the top v8 they had then which was the 5.9L magnum so the 3.5 was the right choice for mpg & more nimble handling. 7 seconds was indeed fast then! pls do look up 0-60 times for cars made in the '90's & their sticker $. there were no 350-400+ hp monsters roaring about with multi-speed automatics, so common now. Besides which, these things are over the top gorguus!! p.s. there are superchargers around for the 3.5L :D

My one word answer to your comment is ...supra. or even skyline. 320 or 276 bhp, rear or all wheel drive, twin turbo inline 6 and both faster, quicker, and better handling while both being made throughout the 80's and 90's.
@michaelkoutsodontis54585 жыл бұрын
@@SupraRy those have twinturbos attached to their 6 cyl motors. i believe supras were more expensive as well. 253 from a mopar 90's v6 is not bad, with forced induction like your japanese examples would well put this car over 300bhp and would be a fun ride.
@michaelkoutsodontis54585 жыл бұрын
@@SupraRy ill agree the skyline gtr could probably out handle this car but do you think a heavy ass supra handles better than a 2800lb prowler? these cars are known to handle exceptionally well actually

Top V8 in the cars,.. But the B/RB was still available in the trucks, and the Crate versions got out to 610 cubes.

@@SupraRy hm $ was a 2000 ish Skyline? Viper $? Viper destroyed cars in that price range..talking $30k Prowler here.

The Prowler was the second fastest car Chrysler made right behind the Viper. I can't think of another car that holds it's resale value better than a Prowler, they still aren't cheap. The times he quoted aren't right, 1/4 mile at over 90 mph. www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum9/HTML/003267.html

If only the Prowler had come with an optional manual, or semi-automatic transmission, it would have been a fun little driver's car.

I hate how car enthusiasts bash this car for not being a road ripping 0-60 thrasher with a 6 speed manual gearbox while sounding like a modern day hellcat. ffs guys, the focal point of this car was to look out of this world while still delivering noticeable power and they did just that! If you want it to go faster, nobody's stopping you from dropping a hemi in there, someone actually did that, there's a video floating around here somewhere. This car is inspired by hotrodding, they're probably hoping you hotrod this thing in the future. Besides, why do think these things still go for $30,000 today?

This car was never fast nor did it sound good. If they would have just fixed that with a different engine and a manual transmission. I don't even think it needs a v8 just something better than the 300M motor and a slow shifting slush box.

You have to remember that at this time Chrysler was broke. Almost all the parts on this car we reused from other Chrysler/dodge vehicles.

Don't forget the car he's driving may have been a 'cheater' pre-production car. more open exhaust and parts/tweaking that didn't quite make it to production. Manufacturers were known for this when showcasing to magazines/review shows
