Thanks for the review. Those straps at the back of the seat are designed to go over the bar of the seat to hold the seat in place. You will want those in place if your kayak flips because it will keep the seat connected to the kayak.

I’ve had it around 2 miles offshore, it’s very stable. It’s specifically designed for rough water, and cutting through chop/swells.
