Old Town Sportsman PDL 106 1 Year Review // Worth It???

Good video and good review! I've had my 106 PDL for 2 1/2 years and I haven't had the first problem with anything. I've made several modifications, mostly from Navarre, but I'd still love it even if it were stock. Funny thing is I bought the seat risers over a year ago and have never installed them. I guess I'm not sure what benefits I would get from it. Maybe you can shed some light on the subject. Tight lines brother!

Many thanks! The biggest benefit I've seen so far from seat risers (I've got 2.5") is it's a lot easier to stand up. It's also a little more comfortable to pedal, but the biggest difference is the ease to stand now. I can shift forward and stand up without needing to hold or grab onto anything, and plop right back down easy peasy. I messed around with 1.5" risers I made and found that the difference was negligible with that height. I don't think I'm going to touch the front... 2.5 and a seat cushion makes it feel great.

Great video explaining reasons why I love my 120PDL too. I usually get the cheaper stuff or middle quality things, so I was very surprised just how much quality is in the Old Town kayaks. I can spend hours and hours on the water and have no water in the hull. I strongly recommend the prop nut, rudder bolt and the steering knob from Navarre. Love the steering knob. I have 3.5" risers from YakHobby on the back and it is perfect. I do not stand up much but it makes pedaling more comfortable. I have other mods too but start with the nut, knob and bolt. Game changers!

Definitely plan on getting those things - I have them added in my cart from the other video you suggested those upgrades, just haven’t ordered because of Christmas shopping and the last tournament I fished had a steeper entry fee haha. Love that, even on crazy windy days, there’s no water in the hull like you mentioned. Now… my rear facing rod holders might have some but that’s different 😂. Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it. Was looking into a hobie, but their warranty isn’t good. Plus heard about an issue with where the seat sits…no thanks. So I’m gonna get either an old town PDL 120 or a 136 auto pilot. Hey….go to Navarre kayak, and go get a propeller and a floating propeller nut. Not only that it floats but you don’t need a tool to tighten it or loosen the nut. Great vid by the way.

Thanks!! Yeah I’ve got some goods in my cart from Navarre but I’ve been holiday shopping haha. So once that slows down then I’ll be ordering some goods. Maaaaan, if you’re able to swing the AP, that’s a super chill time lol. The PDL is also a blast.

Hands down, money well spent. I’ve had mine for 2.5 going on 3 years. Garage kept and cleaned/protected after every trip. The best drive on the market. I still have the original prop. The ONLY thing that sucks is the rudder, in current and when it’s windy. Im hearing Oldtown is coming up with something new, can’t wait. My next kayak will either be a native titan 12.5 or the new Oldtown line up with a trailer. Everything you said is on the money. Im 250 and I’m still getting 4.5mph pedaling and 5.7 with the motor while pedaling. #106nationbaby 😎🤙💪🔥🎣🪚✌🏻

106 nation!!! I’ve debated getting a larger rudder but I don’t fish in crazy current haha. Wind though… yeah that’s a pain. I had a dream where I won a Titan 16.5… 😂… not even a thing.
