Could you explain why hypothermia would decrease a MAC? If I'm remembering my basic chem right, cooling will increase a gases solubility in a liquid. Because of that I would think the MAC should increase. I know that's not the case though. (Been searching online and can't find a good answer.)

Hmmm, is it because metabolism is lowered in a hypothermic state?

I don't think a few degrees of hypothermia is enough to have much effect on the physics of the gas. Rather, I'm guessing that any metabolic or physiologic perturbation has some intrinsic anesthetic effects on the human brain. So less inhaled anesthetic is needed to achieve a given level of anesthesia.
