OLD KPOP FOR THE WORLD!! Always and forever older kpop. Third generation is meh... sure they're getting more attention, but only because second generation sent the Hallyu Wave and now kpop is more known. But those new fans who don't know and bash the older groups, shame on you, you missed the legends. Back in the second generation I remember all these shows where they would get together and how you could tell the close relationships between the groups. Man, how I miss the second generation, when there weren't as many crazy fans and less fan wars.
@denica200210 жыл бұрын
The fan wars are so bad! I don't think it's a good thing! Like... Everyone has a different opinion. And everyone has the right for an own opinion so no need for fan wars. I think what has a lot of veteran kpop fans nostalgic is the gradual change we've seen. I mean we've seen groups debut, groups break up, song styles change. Newer kpop fans only know what's become more mainstream and what's current. Music is always changing and sometimes it's hard to let go and keep up with it.

One of the saddest thing while watching this video is that... when you realized that most of the old kpop groups mentioned, have lost member(s) or even worst disbanded. I felt like smiling... but some of the groups arent the same anymore. time does flies very fast. i miss them. the old is cringy, have lots of weird fashoin and low budget mv but hey.... thats what make it special. less fanwars, amazing variety shows... & great bond between the groups. nowadays? massive fanwars & fierce competition between the groups that could cause major rivalry .

I've been listening to K-pop for almost 17 years now, since the debut of Fin.k.l (fyi, the legendary group where Lee Hyori was the leader) and i dare to say, the old kpop you're referring to is not that old, they're pretty new. i'll say the real old kpop is from the debut of seo taiji and boys to the disbandment of h.o.t in 2001 and one year later of s.e.s. That was the end of the first group wave, and the raise of ballad songs at the same time. Then in 2005 came the second wave of new groups, i.e. csjh, SNSD and Suju. (TVXQ as a 5 men group, the kings of the period, was formed in 2003 though), till a bigger and more profound third wave from 2008-09 (2pm, shinee, 2ne1, 4minute, t-ara, f(x), after school all debuted these two years), until now. The first wave was when kpop got its popularity in Asia (except japan perhaps, for its reluctance to accepting new and foreign stuff). The third wave gains the highest international attention, so if youre new to the kpop scene, you probably find the first two three years of the third wave already "old".

This is just what I notice: Old kpop: Though it is influenced by J-pop and has western elements, when you see the MVs and hear the songs, you can identify it as Kpop. Heck, even my non kpop friends identified the old kpop as kpop. New kpop: The MVs and the songs look and sound like American...but sang in korean. This is just my opinion though.

@@yunjin910 but at least back than idols were vocal about what things of fans they didn't like and which idol or celeb they like or wanna date and all... Now the idols, even when mobbed or attached by fans have to keep smiling and show that everything is fine... Also with all the toxic fans and intense fanwars, it's hella possible that idols still get poisoned and physically attached and all, it's just they have to hide it and have to SHOW love to their FANS🙃🙃🙃 This is the problem now, idols can't even express themselves... Of course there were fanwars and fan fights back then, even physical ones, or idols were abused, but the rude and problematic ones got sued too, BY THE IDOLS, unlike now a days, where if idols act against problematic fans, they are called rude and hated(like Yuta, Doyoung and many more, even Chanyeol was hated for suing fans who LITERALLY tried ruining his image and career, TXT were hit by their own manager besides being mobbed by fans, but still!! it's the idols who were hated!!!) Who knows what our favs go through in their daily lives?!?! We just see what they want to show us!! They are for sure hiding many dark things from us and know what?? This is why 2ns gen was comparitively better!!

2009 was the best year for girl group debuts: After School, 4minute, f(x), 2NE1, T-ARA, and Secret all had successful debuts. Since then most debuts have been ignored until this year 2015. A new generation of girl groups are becoming popular from debut: Lovelyz, G-Friend, Oh My Girl, Sonamoo, CLC are having successful debut as well. I hope 2015 continues to be a great year for debuts

Honestly, I started being a Kpop fan in about March last year. My first song that I took interest in was Lucifer. It's not like new Kpop fans today don't listen to the Kpop released back in 2008 ~ 2012. Although I'm no expert, I can just see the evolution of music in all parts of the world. Some genres are getting worse, some are getting better. The thing is, I don't look at dates in Kpop videos. I just Watch. You know what I'm saying? I enjoy it and I get the good vibe off of it new or not. Sure, things are different but I feel like the original aspects of Kpop still lives on in songs today. It just happens, things just change. Technology, the "trends," everything... The things I get from new Kpop videos gives me the same feelings as watching old Kpop videos. I don't know if this is just me but even if things do change, I feel the same because there are artists out there who put out the most wonderful songs no matter when it was released.

EXO - Locket lol. I went from 60's and 70's (beatles, queen) music to kpop . I had heard about the fact that once you get into kpop, there's no escaping. so I looked on finebros too to see what kpop was like. ... they were right .>.

I know! I am still pissed that SM was so money hungry that they wont allow the members to promote the beauty brand and not give the three members a raise. If I was CEO, I would give them a much better contract and offer! They were popular in Japan for god sake! It's vey hard to kpop groups to make it big in Japan. Not only that, but whole Asia, SE Asia loved them. They were money making gods for SM. All 5 were very strong, they can sing and dance, at the same time, live! so well trained. SM just let them go.... Stupid decision. They were the end of the an era for kpop, and honestly SM havent been able to reproduce their success.

I don't know why some people say that "just because they're new fans doesn't mean they don't know old songs" no one said that clearly here's KZbin for every single old song for them to travel through. What most of us old kpoppers are saying is that you're not going to have that same feel watching old songs now because you didn't grow up listening to kpop like that. I've been a kpop fan for about 8 years now and I first discovered SHINee and ever since then I've been a shawol since then I started to listen to other groups such as suju, snsd, 2ne1, f(x), tara, mblaq, infinite etc, honestly it was the best era in my opinion it was basically the second generation of kpop and they made it big internationally and spread that definition of hallyu across the board but like we said new kpop fans would not really feel how we felt when we used to watch this stuff when it was brand new. Yes a new kpop fan can know as many old songs as we old kpoppers do but they aren't getting that nostalgic feeling we get when watching it now and remembering watching it back when it was new.

pie itsalana I totally agree! I'm an old kpoper, old VIP! and i found the old kpop songs especially the B's song Haru Haru is from the golden era ! @Dztruxtion8 жыл бұрын
Umayma yea like people say "everything was weird back then" well first of all everything was old back then and during that time THAT WAS THE FASHION AND TRENDS so no one can even speak on that. New Kpop will always be the better music. Half of y'all are blinded by nostalgia lmfao. New Kpop is more diverse, has muuuuch better production and variety, and the god awful autotune is gone. Andrew Tuan the reason why they're well known is because most groups from the 90s broke up already since the KPop scene was much harder in the 90s, and stricter since doing solo activities will make you look like a betrayer so it's like.. they can't pursue their solo careers until they broke up :(

I think you're just new to KPop, if we are talking about old KPop, we meant legends that started the KPop wave from the 90's, and it was more diverse back then coz most idols back then had their own balloon colors representing every group's fans, just saying.. and vocals from the past were much powerful and dance moves back then were also tiring, not to mention they didn't need to wear heavy makeup just to look nice in camera.

LOL this is mostly wave 2, not old, which would be wave 1. I don't really have a preference, as I like some groups from all three. However, I will say Wave 3 has had the most duds by far, probably because now they try to rush groups to debut way more now than before. Lots of not-so-good stuff coming out compared to before. Also notice a lot of groups from smaller companies that have strong debuts, and then the next release is horrible because they don't wanna spend anymore money on them. =( For certain groups, like 2PM especially, I think their old stuff was WAY better. Whereas other groups, like SHINee and BIGBANG have stayed really consistent with their quality while still progressing with the trends. I've also noticed a lot of bands, especially MYNAME, completely switch to a hip-hop concept, which to me is just being a sell-out, especially since their debut was so good. I don't like them anymore. So basically, everything depends on the group whether older or newer is better. >__< If you wanna talk about fandoms, many new K-Pop fans are savages. And I've noticed it really depends on the group. It's seriously mostly fans of EXO and BTS, which is unfortunate. I used to like EXO, but all my favorite members left, and their style completely changed to something that felt...very empty. BTS I like very much, so it annoys me when ARMYs misbehave. Although Cassies and ELFs used to be pretty savage (many still are), as well as Sones and Blackjacks (who still can't stop fucking arguing). I guess wave 1 was the most peaceful. ^ ^;;

I definitely think their was a unique element to Kpop in the past that just made it distinct to other forms of music. It is the thing that got me into Kpop in the first place. There was more melody, personality, charisma and catchiness. Just listen to BoA's old music and tell me that stuff doesn't want to make you dance. However, I do acknowledge the fact that newer Kpop also has some hidden gems and does sound like it could be older Kpop music (hint hint: G-friend).

I actually feel like newer songs are more diverse in style as kpop becomes more global and producers experiment with different genres. I love old kpop classics but new kpop excites me because it just seems like there's a wider variety of sounds now. I really like ToppDogg, but that's probably because the first thing I seen or heard with them was the video where they're trying to pronounce western names. After that, started to look more into them and I really like their music and their personalities. I haven't actually looked into other groups quite as much, so I guess I can't really judge them. I like the new kpop better honestly. I've never really liked cute aegyo songs like "Gee" and "Marshmellow" which were most girl group songs back then. That and a lot of MVs back then seem very outdated. Also, a feel that a lot of groups back then were searching for an image and concept that best fit them. For instance, bigbang have developed a more hardcore, cool image since "Haru Haru". That being said, I do still appreciate the classics like "Abracadabra" and "Sorry Sorry".

Old kpop I like Gee Snsd, Mirotic TVXQ, Bigbang Monster. New kpop I like Gidle Latata, Nct We go up & Straykids District 9.

I came into the KPOP scene for the 1st time ever early last year, and I've definitely grown with the rookies of 2013 & 2014 more than older groups I have seen most of those older songs and it's hard to decide old or new, because I really love both; some older songs are better while some newer songs beat the older songs >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> i'm more at comfort with the newer kpop scene, so I like that a bit better by a little like I really like Haru Haru and a lot of SHINee's & TVXQ's (as well as their new ones) earlier songs but I would consider early 2000's - 2010 old kpop & 2011-2014 new; I honestly don't find 2012 to be old kpop, it only happened 2yrs ago... that's not that old >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I have watched a lot of old kpop MV's the thing that I don't miss it the crappy KZbin quality or the smaller screens; what I do miss is the sound of that older music, after all it's the foundation of what kpop music is today. but seriously I love both old and new XD this is also coming from a younger person
