You did a great job bringing back the brown look on the covers. That show side was really bleached out before. Nice comparison between the two. With all those Stockman knives, now you need some livestock. 🐎🐂🐏🐖

Enjoyed with my 1970’s 858 in hand. Just something about three time proven blades on your belt. Great video.

Thanks buddy, I do that too sometimes when my friends make videos on knives I already own, I pull that knife out, it’s like I’m checking out the knife along side them :)

The Old Timer USA line actually were 1095 carbon steel bladed with the exception of the lockbacks like the 6ot and the 7ot . Even some of those were carbon steel but most you'll see with the Schrade+ tang stamp designating stainless which was most likely a 440a or 420hc . Those 858ot knives are a bit hard to track down . Somewhat rare as I don't think they made that model for any more than about 3 years . Great stockman though . It's the largest stockman Schrade ever produced and that frame only showed up in the Old Timer line . No open stock Schrade or Uncle Henry ever had a stockman that large . Great find for 25 bucks on a hard to find model . 👍👍

The Stockman is my favorite pattern to carry. An 858OT is too big for me (for legal reasons), but I've had an American-made 34OT in my pocket for a while now. The American Old Timers are also favorites of mine, whatever pattern they happen to be. Thanks for a great video!

The color difference (sun fade?) front to back on the old one is pretty cool. Certainly makes it a unique piece. Thanks for the comparison.

Nice comparison. When it comes to stockmans, I really prefer the ones with the more squared off bolsters vs the rounded. In any case they are just a great edc knife.

Thanks for the comparison. I have a few old USA made Schrade and Uncle Henry knives and a couple of the newer made in China Schrade knives. The older knives are better made, period. The steel is superior as are the nickel silver bolsters. But, the new Schrade knives are very good quality and are better built than any of the other China manufactured knives like Rough Rider, Marbles, etc... Buck seems to be getting their act together now on their USA made traditional knives. It is nice to have USA made options that are more affordable and sturdier than the Case and GEC knives which are so pricey and highly polished you hate to use them and spoil their looks.

Hi KD, thank you for a very comprehensive comparison video, very well explained and presented. I have an old timer Stockman, it is similar to yours only smaller and the bolsters are a different shape; squared off, it is stamped Schrade USA 340T, I have had it a long time and to be honest I can’t remember exactly when, so thanks for clearing up the date stamp query. Thank you again Take care Sam

@sam milligan The Old Timer 34ot was Schrades all time best selling knife . They produced it longer consecutively than any other knife and sold more of them than any other knife they produced .

I honestly don't even know how one can compare any vintage Schrade knife made in the U.S.A. ( or any other U.S. knife brand for that matter ) to the inferior and undesirable products being manufactured from recycled materials by child slave labor and imported into our country from COMMUNIST China. The half ounce weight difference should tell you something is lacking in the lighter knife. What is it you might ask? The answer is simple, It's Quality. You can find 40 50 even 60 year old Old Timer knives online every day. Good luck keeping your inferior COMMUNIST Chinese imports for decades unless,of course you vacuum seal them and store them in air tight containers. I'll take a preowned, even a half used up AMERICAN made Old Timer over the new garbage made today every time. Just one mans opinion. your mileage may vary
