We apologize, but this is an older video from Full30 and it is not available in HD.
We explore through the ruins of Charleston Arizona, once a thriving town and a legitimate example of the wild and dangerous Old West.
Charleston's heyday only lasted about ten years before it was largely destroyed in an earthquake, although it would see use again in the 1940s as a site for urban warfare training for US Army troops based in Fort Huachuca.

These vids are incredible. As a British citizen, the "Old West" holds a romantic fascination, and you guys breathe new life into these places. Thankyou.

I've been to Tombstone twice as a little kid, but I honestly didn't know a single thing about Charleston. Thanks Ian Karl!

There is an evacuated town in Dorset , UK near where I live, where they trained the commandos to fight house to house (When they were formed during the second world war.) It's still used today. The people there were just basically evicted and told it was for the war effort. They apparantly left gladly, wishing to do their bit in the fight against nazi tyranny. Interesting bit of history. Thanks for the upload.

you guys should do some of the ghost towns up to the north (north of Phoenix, because the land is very beautiful, and i recall seeing many of them) -Daniel.

Great video! I haven't made it to Charleston yet, but I have been through Millville. I walked down the San Pedro from Old Charleston Road, but I was on the east side of the river, and didn't feel like crossing the river and then climbing the hill while wet.. So I climbed the other side and explored Millville. But visiting Charleston is still a high priority!

Karl, One totally different subject I have a question for you. In this video you are wearing what looks like to be a traditional outer garment for that area. How would you compare and contrast that to your combat smocks? Do you have an opinion on the British smocks currently being offered by various MIL sure dealers? Please keep these coming. I expect to visit AZ in a couple years and hope to visit a couple of these sites. Any advice for someone expecting to camp over night in the area? Thanks again.

Hey I love the content. Have you ever thought about doing some in Wyoming? I know it is a bit far from your gome base but there are some great stories here. For example the Johnson County war, the Ten Sleep raid, Tom Horn, Livere Eating Jonston , Kirwin and Big Nose George Parrot to name a few. Maybe next time you are in Cody you could do some Wyoming vignettes

II realize they were further North, but I think some of the more interesting Western events, which kind of set the stage for things to follow were the Fetterman Fight (a classic exercise in bad tactics combined with poor intel), the Hayfield fight, and the Wagon Box fight. IMO although the big difference between the first fight and the last two were changes in weaponry (coupled with decent tactics on the winner's part), I believe the tactics of Captain Fetterman were poor enough that updating the weaponry available to him with the early trapdoors would have possibly made little difference.

Just out of curiosity Karl, in Charleston they didn´t by any chance have a lot of tensions with mexican gangs that came from the border at that time?

2:30 I was going to say y'all needed some form of Texas Rangers, a police force with state jurisdiction who could ride in and say that the current law was unacceptable... Then I checked and in 1901 the Arizona Rangers modeled on the Texas Rangers was created to do just that.
