Aquachigger. That mug like thing you found...looks like an old style oil can. They'd fill it from a barrel with a pump...then pour it into your engine. That way they'd know how many quarts they put in your engine. If it is one...there should be markings on the side of it.

I just can't imagine owning land that has cabins on it and not trying to preserve them. There's plenty of hardwoods to get logs from. And in the meantime I'd detect the whole area. Back in the day it was probably much more open. Great place Beau and Todd! Even if the history in artifacts wasn't there. The buildings sure told the story👍

you are one of the worlds best teachers, Your lessons have built my skills ,and I use your techniques on every quest. my holes are dug with a red trencher, handle cut to that magic length, the magnet I throw safer for its juice top anti branch set up, the idea ,..that some one could hunt objects and show that the hunt can make anything a fun treasure, the journey ,not the destination. the history, the facts , the bits of info we all repeat to our own audiences, your gifts you have given will be rippling out for a long time. ......thank you !!

Cool adventure. Love that big rippled sediment piece. That would probably be of interest to local archeologists and paleontologists. Really interesting about the lead on the mail heads. That’s a pretty ingenious way to add some sealing around the nails. Considering a modern place I moved to just a few years ago had a 5 gallon bucket stuck over a roof leak to try to fix it. 🙄

Not sure how I missed this video. I can’t get over how that area looks very much like a place I know (limestone, beech trees etc). I would bet that Civil War soldiers took shelter in some of those over hangs. Good idea checking that out. I have never seen a little candle holder like that. Super cool! 😁👍🏻

I have only been to West Virginia one time (southern, around Beckley) and was not all that impressed. However, I was only there for about 8 hours for a funeral... But that is an absolutely beautiful property, the landscape is wonderful. I would not ask a proper location, but a rough area (50 mile radius?) if possible. Anyways, I always enjoy the videos sir. Thank you.

IDK where he is but there's lots of old farms and pretty countryside all around the middle of WV (Nicholas, Braxton, Clay counties). You can more or less just turn off the highway down any two lane road and find a national forest or historical park you can hike through. A lot of them, if not all, have restrictions about metal detecting so doublecheck that before digging. Maybe look up Beartown, Audra, or Babcock. I wanna also mention the Appalachians are full of cave systems, something you might be interested in if you're on this channel
