I remember my family visiting with my (more well-off and tech-inclined) uncle's family, and we all sat around in the den as he showed us the Colecovision and Smurf Adventure, which had just come out. The thing I remember the most was how the sound and visuals of the Smurf dying made every adult in the room crack up to the point of tears, and they just kept walking him into obstacles to hear the "thud" and break down in near-crippling laughter. I was too young to remember (or even recognize) whether or not any or all of them had been drinking but, revisiting this memory now, as I write this out, it might explain a lot.

I was about 18 years old back in 1982 when Smurf colecovision came out. I remembered that me and my mother played this TV arcade game. My brother at that time worked for Coleco in Amsterdam, NY, where the colecovision game cartridges, controllers, and consoles that you hooked up to your TV were manufactured.

For being a 80s game this has pretty decent graphics and looks like it's a lot of fun

I ... FREAKING ... LOVED ... THIS ... GAME! My friends and I would challenge each other saying "YOU UP FOR SOME LEVEL 4 SMURF!" note at 0:40 you could make those tall jumps in a single jump (instead of double jump) if you had perfect timing. Also, I always thought "Spike Grass" should not kill a Smurf.

I've spent several years wondering why the Smurfs had as sentimental value to me, and now I finally realize that this is the first video game I ever played.

A little bit Pac-Land ish ... I always have a good laugh how you can trip on the grass and lose a life - it's comedy gold! Haven't played this in about 10 years now, but do still have it. It's quite a charming game and the soundtrack is lovely. A must play for any Colecovision enthusiast. 🙋🏻♂️

I had this game when I was very young. Truthfully, the graphics are pretty good for the early 80s when you compare it to Atari. This could pass for an early NES game.

@hatesgames You jump on the grass or walk to it to get killed by it. That's it.

This looks so much better than that Atari 2600 version! But I still like the gameplay and "feeling" better in that more simpler Atari version

The two pieces of BGM heard in this game are also heard in 1984's Smurf Paint 'N' Play Workshop if you select the following scenery: *Choose Papa Smurf's Living Room (press 7 on the keypad) to hear the 1st part of "Simple Gifts" *Choose The River and Cave (press 0 on the keypad) to hear the 2nd part of "Simple Gifts" *Choose Gargamel's Kitchen (press * on the keypad) to hear Beethoven's "6th Symphony (The Pastoral)."

you can also jump onto the skull by doing a click for the jump and then a quick click right after, a sort of double-click (but not double jump) but you're pressing down the right time a few miliseconds longer. there's also a way to jump the high cliff by getting really close to it without the jump-bounce thing.

It’s missing the best part of the game. The cassette audio clips. You would hook a special tape deck to add vocals.

In one of the original versions of the Smurf video game there was an extra little goodie where at the end of the game, if you don't walk up to Smurfette right away but jump back down to the ground her dress will disappear leaving her in only underwear! If the noy Smurf walks up to her after she's lost her dress then she gives him a hard slap! Anyone remember this scene?
