You should test fit it with the engine bolted to the subframe and the wheels on it. Lift the front end maybe using a chain fall attached to the ceiling should be light enough to handle it? Roll the subframe engine assembly under the car and lower it onto the assembly to see what needs to be cut out of the way for it to fit. When you find the obstacle, lift the front end and if the assembly is in the way move it and cut the obstacle out of the way and retest fit. Keep repeating this process until you make it fit. Then fabricate the new structure that is going to hold the new(to this car) assembly in. Try not to have to shrink the subframe unless absolutely necessary to make it fit because you'll be opening another can of worms that will snowball on you. If you have to, cut out the strut towers out of the other car and graft them on the Hugo. Doing it this way will take the guess work out of it and speed things along. Cool project, with a turbo that thing is going to be sick!

About Toyota motors being installed in factory. Toyota deal didn't go through and they went with Peugeot engine and installed them for few production years.

There are many nice Italian engines that fit into the Yugo and what the Americans put - Japanese ones… You must stabilize chassis, it is very weak, it will not bear a torque higher than 100Nm, I checked on multiple Yugos
@OldeCarrGuy Жыл бұрын
We use Japanese engines because they are plentiful in North America. I will be stabilizing! Thanks for watching.

@deagt3388 Жыл бұрын
That's completely wrong what you're doing, my friend! On Yugo, the 'strap', as we call it here, will crack (it's the lower part of the body under the engine, literally), and before that, your 'salt' will crack (the upper outer parts of the chassis where the shock absorbers are). You went down the wrong path with that project and I'm sorry to see you struggling for nothing. STRENGTHEN THE SHELL FIRST!;-)

I know this swap isn't going to be ok with everybody, but sometimes your just got to do what you want to have fun! Better than sitting in a junkyard waiting for the crusher. I will be reinforcing the car, but I want to find out where and how to hang the engine/suspension first. Hope you keep watching.
