Same thing here. I met a girl when I just graduated fr college, whose family had high expectation and did not want to build a family fr ground zero. Then I met my wife who was also my classmate, who was willing to build a family with the bare hands. 28 years later, we build up a happy family with our beautiful daughter in college. We are now looking forward to retire with our assess with multiple M in few years. BTW, the girl I mentioned above is still single now at 55+.

The problem most of them not even want adjust their standard even in their 50, so they still stay as single, and that not good for them, their brother, and their parent. Her brother will hardly married cause their parent house need to share with his sister, mean while some women want he to own his own house, but his salary may not good enough to fullfill that. Besides their family car been sale by his unmarried sister to become her business capital, her brother will be empty pocket, hard to develop more cause there is lack support in family, no one in family will care with his wedding cost, struggle alone even her brother surviving hardly in his 40, harsh living condition is really cruel, one ungracefull women can make whole family suffer , from rich to become poor family. I've been working in China for the past 12 years and in a relationship with a Shanghainese woman for the past 3 years and I have to say that the extreme cultural and social pressure when it comes to dating is something that we in the West don't really have a clue about. Dating among Chinese people is more like a business in which both families must be happy with what each party brings to the marriage. The happiness of the man and woman or if they even like each other doesn't really matter to Chinese society and parents. In her late 20s my grilfriend gave up and started dating foreigners instead which actually feels like a romantic relationship to her in which she can be herself without all the pressure of her society and family. She also can still date somebody who wants to start a family with her in her late 20s and early 30s without the fear of being disrespected for her 'high' age. Currently we're planning to move to my country which isn't that big of a problem. Because of her high education it's easy to find a well paid job for her and she already owns property in Shanghai.

Part of it is they used to be able to be that demanding when they were younger. Just because one's beauty declines doesn't mean one's demands do. It takes a long time for them to see it. I think it's because they are not so much interested in getting married, but more in asset acquisition. One main reason for getting married is to have your life enhanced by the support and companionship of another, and to enhance their life through the support and companionship that you give them in return. But these women miss that point, and likely wouldn't care that they are missing it. I imagine that for many of them, the man is just an inconvenient by-product of signing a contract that gives them access to his assets. They believe that they will find fulfilment in levelling up their lives through material means. But they never will. The whole process is cold and soulless, and a chasing after the wind.

It tends to be more intense in cultures where marriages were or are arranged, or theres a land farming based culture. The families want to hold on to aquire their share of the deal or own the newcomer. The other problem is theres a lot of unpleasant stuff goes on as a result of the gender imbalance .. less females were born in the one child period. No one thought what would happen when all the the boys grew up and a lot had to stay on the land to look after parents. So theres still kidnappings, wife house slaves other wierd religiously based stuff going on. That is not necessarily true. Broke men have a tendency to be mean and angry about their impoverishment. No woman needs a bitter, angry man. Well off men can be problematic too. I am sure that is partly why these women have placed financial expectations from prospective suitors.

Men need to do a much better job of problem solving and that includes the financial responsibility and be kind, good men too. The men are failing to attract women except for the last gentleman who was kind, funny and charming. He showed interest in the lady, bought her lunch 🥗 He wooed her. To get and keep a woman’s interest, a man has to at least be likable. Charming. Something. Who needs a broke man with a bad attitude? That's true. I know of one woman who just died at child birth. No one is saying what is obvious. She and others put off marriage so long and now run the risk of these late pregnancies which not only include risk to baby but also risk to mother.

I find it selfish that they keep high standards when they should know not as many men want them. True women get upset when the age thing is brought up but that is reality.
