Thanks 😊 Yes, pretty much all terrain was covered in what turned out to be a surprisingly good route!

What a wacky, fun route that is! The rain and mud made it even more interesting 😅 Well done 👍🏻🏃♂️

Thank you, for some reason I wasn’t expecting there to be as much off road as there was. It’s a really good route and one we may go back to again at some point.

Loved the friendly little lamb and the highland cow. Looked a good choice of route that. It had a bit of everything. Thanks again for uploading.

Thanks Andy, all in all it was a pretty good route. Some bits lacked interest but it would be nigh on impossible to create a large circular with all good bits.

Watching it now. (Commenting while watching) I am amazed how you keep doing ultra training for fun. These fells look fantastic. What a change in weather from last week. The snow has vanished.

Thank you Olga. Yes, very different to last week now the snow has all but gone. It’s a great route which was mostly interesting which is what tempts us out of the house on a weekly basis. Just love being outdoors!

Brilliant video guys. Mud mud glorious mud oh and lots of cow 💩. I knew what was coming up next as you went around the route. Some of the route is lovely especially in summer but some of it is pretty nasty in any weather. The race used to start at Castleshaw reservoir. Loads of vids on here about it.

Thanks Simon. Yeah, we saw the original start location on the GPX we plotted off. It made sense to change to Dove Stone and it’s closer for us and also gets a bit of the ascent out in the first few miles. I think overall I was surprised at how good of a route it is as I thought there would be far more road sections and town passings. Enjoyed it 👍

I run some of the routes every week (dovestones, tandle hills and the Rochdale canal) and was fantastic watching the video of you running them all in one go! The distance you travelled is incredible

There’s some lovely areas isn’t there? We’ve done quite a bit around Dove Stone and Saddleworth but Tandle Hill was a first for us. It’s a lovely country park. Thank you for watching and taking time to comment. We both appreciate it 👍

Got this planned for summer - being from oldham it has to be done. Surprised to see others doing it though, I hope you enjoyed beautiful🤥 oldham hahaha

It’s actually a very good circular route with a bit of everything thrown in. It’s not what we would usually do but the higher mileage and relatively lower amount of climbing made it a perfect choice for what we needed. I honestly thought we would have gone through more housing estates and spend more time on roads but the route we took kept us on trails for the majority of time. Really enjoyed it! Thank you 😊

omg mud mud and more mud - just 2questions 1 did you pack the mint sauce and2 where is the Jaffa cakes - lol thank you both for sharing your runs with us and taking us along with you

I did make a joke to Cheryl about mint sauce and a take home for tea but apparently that wouldn’t have gone down well on camera had I have said it 😂 Not had Jaffa Cakes for a while now while running though they’re permanently in my butty box everyday for work. And yeah, loads of mud. Again!! Thanks again for watching 😊

@@TrailRunningCouple lakes traverse is it starting at st bees
@TrailRunningCouple Жыл бұрын
Yes, both the Lakes Traverse and Northern Traverse (really big one!!) start at St Bees. Luckily we get to finish at Shap unlike the adult race which goes all the way to Robin Hoods Bay on the East coast.

What a mudfest 😎 Thank you for sharing. Pendle Way on the horizon?
@TrailRunningCouple Жыл бұрын
Great idea! Just looked roughly at it and it seems to be around 45 miles and a shade over 6k ft of ascent. Not too dissimilar to the Oldham Way stat wise. Added to the list. We’ve done the Pendle 3 Peaks which covers some of the Pendle Way so know some of the area. Thanks again for watching.

Have a bash at the pendle way. 45 miler 👍
@TrailRunningCouple Жыл бұрын
You’re not the first to mention that. Definitely on the radar. It’s just a tad more mileage and elevation than this but circulars that pass through towns are really good for the longer days out. Thanks 👍

I don't think I'll be rushing to do the Oldham Way Ultra any time soon 😂
@TrailRunningCouple Жыл бұрын
Haha, it fit the bill. Distance, food stops and still over 5K ft of ascent. Honestly though, it’s really not a bad route all in all! Thanks 😊

What model innov8 are you in,dealing with lovely mud.. Congratulations on your determination 🎉 Out of interest also,how much running do you do during the week,don't you need much recovery time?
@TrailRunningCouple Жыл бұрын
We wore TrailFly G270’s. Not great in deep mud but what is? They were the best all round shoe for the route. Could have opted for X Talons but wouldn’t have been too great on the hard packed trails, pavement or canal. Always a balance! Training wise, we go out on a Tuesday and Thursday, running 10 or 11 miles each day followed by a long run at weekend, mostly around marathon distance. We have no specific training plans or blocks etc, no speed work, no hill reps etc - all run to feel. We may throw in the odd 2 or 3 miler on a Monday or Wednesday but it’s rare. Maybe we should consider training plans but this works for us. Our numbers don’t set the world on fire - it’s more about the enjoyment for us. Thanks 😊
