CRAZY Idaho Crayfish - Snorkeling for Giant Crawdads - Catch & Cook!!!

August in Idaho means snorkeling the rivers for GIANT, freshwater crayfish. These may be some of the meanest (and largest) freshwater crays in the country. Not only are they a thrill to dive for, but they are delicious as well. Join Matt from Old Hat Outdoors as he spends an afternoon snorkeling one of Idaho's rivers for these big crawdads and then cooks up a few of them for an afternoon snack.

I enjoy both methods but on those hot summer days a dip in the river is pretty incredible.

I've caught thousands in Oregon and don't need any of his skill. Good traps, area, and about anything for bait is all you need. SW, NW. SE, S, N, SCentral, da. da. da. Give an idea where you are, otherwise shut the F up. People up here near Mackay won't tell you where they fly fish (I use bait) on Kane Creek or the N. Fork of the Big Lost. I laugh, planters. Fish in those stretches don't winter over. I've survived 76 years and a war without thinking all my fishing, hunting, and "crawdad" spots were sacred. @@fishinfool63

I’ll do the intro, I was thinkin, (you know, as an OLD native) you could say: I’m stuck here in Idaho, this state is a genuine hazard, year round, the air is ALWAYS so Smokey at least 15 people die here a night for months on end and that’s the good months, the place generally sucks so I’m taking my old hat and going to a great Californian river I found, to catch crawdads while my boys play in the ocean wearin a thong with the in crowd!
