I was watching the video I was just telling my wife about last night, I stayed up till about 3 am. boxing day morning. About midnight, the wind was practically zero within a couple of minutes. Really, strong winds came, and the rain was horizontal. I live in Cleveleys on the coast near Blackpool. I love watching your channel because I know the area like the back of my hand, anyhow, christmas is over, so you and your family have a Happy New Year.

Well the rod was christened on New Year’s Day on the river Mersey Liverpool. Had a few whiting and a 6lb codling. Handled the fish very well

Speaking of being safe during fishing. I was fishing the stone Jetty once at Aberystwyth with my Brother in Law. The sea was flat calm. We both looked at each other as a thud echoed through the stone jetty and a wave went over both our heads (it felt like we were surfing in the middle of a wave) I dived on my rod handle and just managed to stop my rod from going in. Looking back we could have both been swept off that jetty and probably would have been killed. There are no railings on there just a 40-50ft drop onto rocks. I haven't fished off there since.

I got family who lives in north wales Denbigh and Conway too my family tock me around there fishing crabbing mussels cockles I know a lot of good places on Holyhead, at the iron bridge is a very good place to fish. Anyway I love the videos because it bring back the good old days… I be going to north wales soon maybe I see ya down that way. 😊

I'm thinking of using a big cage feeder instead of a weight.With some chum in the feeder,it may attract the fish. It's big pond so a bit of attractant might help.Cod take huge baits and use smell and sight.Bull Huss are moochers,so they will pick upon it.

Not always good to do big baits for cod, had my biggest this year on the last cast of the night from all the scraps at the bottom of the cooler box that made up a rather small bait, it was like a squid head half a cart wing and a mussel. After rough weather when the fish are on and feeding mad I also think they go for multiple small meals and just move fast I dont think they are hunting for big stuff when its so abundant. Also if the water is crystal clear small baits are better.
