Damn, that takes me back. I was there in Berlin and Amsterdam. This song came kind out of nowhere. It's been the first time an Utsu-P song was performed live, though he's around making Vocaloid metal songs for over a decade. Now that you are about to fall into the Vocaloid rabbit hole, I hope you learn that it's a lot more than just "songs with new technology". Hatsune Miku breaks that usual "fan - star" relationship and kind of turns it around. Because basically everyone can use her voice to create songs you can get, and I know how weird this sounds, closer to her than to any normal star in the business. A lot of the producers who create the songs are just normal people like you and me who put there ups and downs into the lyrics for Miku and that causes people to identify much more with the music. You could say that Miku has a special song for everyone. I hope you will go to a Miku Expo concert when there'll be the chance in the future, because just getting caught up in that happy vibe coming from all the fans is an experience on its own.

Yeah the title is a bit confusing so 'Hyper Reality Show" is the song, Hatsune Miku is the singer (vocaloid) and Utsu-P is the composer. Hatsune Miku is the most popular vocaloids and normally does pop music. Utsu-p uses the vocaloid program to make metal music. But the "Miku" team decided to use this song in the show. Or it was written for her. One or the other. Anyway I'm a big fan of what utsu-p is doing, this is no where near the best sobg but this is all there is. I'll send you some more utsu-p stuff its seriously impressive! I've tried using the vocaloid program, its really fun! I made a little half song with it 😂 Glad you enjoyed this!

I know you've reacted to several of these performances now, but it doesn't look like anyone has gone into detail about how it works, so here's how it works. First of all, "Vocaloid" is the name of the rendering engine that turns sound data into a singing voice. There are a good number of them out there now, and I know people have mentioned UTAU (ooh-tah-ooh, in Japanese it means "to sing"), but there's also CeVIO and Synthesizer-V, to name just a couple. Anyway, they take a voice actor or a singer, and make a recording of every sound in a language. Not just the letter sounds, but combinations of them, all sorts of stuff. A really comprehensive list can be up to 4000 samples. Then they take all that and put it into a "voice bank", much like a sound bank for a MIDI instrument. The interface is basically a MIDI piano roll, where you can draw in the notes by hand or play them or whatever, but then it lets you type lyrics over those notes. And there are all sorts of controls to adjust pronunciation and color and breathiness and all that, I'm sure you can imagine it. Of course it doesn't sound at all natural, and takes a fair bit of work to make it sound good. You can get them sounding pretty close to a human voice but it takes a /lot/ of finessing and most people don't bother. I've dabbled in it and it is really challenging stuff. When I do it, it sounds like Megurine Luka has a head cold, hahah. So there you go! Hopefully that gives you an idea of what makes it tick. Let me know if you have any questions, I'm happy to help! :) Edit: lol I just saw you react to the video where they explain most of that.

Ha ha, for those who don't know what Hatsune Miku is, it will look very strange and stupid. It is said that she has more than 100,000 songs, so it is truly a mix of good and bad. Wagakki band "Senbonzakura" is also her representative song. A long time ago, I was surprised and asked, "What the hell is this?" and I researched about her. Curious Mr. B felt the same way, didn't he? She is probably the most successful Japanese singer in the world and holds mid-sized concerts in various cities around the world every year and sells them all out (she also participated in a tour of Lady Gaga). "Hatsune Miku" is just an application, but through her, many people have spent time creating tens of thousands of songs, music videos, various types of CG data, and their own programs to dance with her CG. It is known among researchers as a miraculous phenomenon in which people work together based on the technology of the Internet to give life to Hatsune Miku, which has no reality. Also, since the early days of KZbin, it has been said that it has the largest number of uploaded content. I don't know much about it either, so at that time, I will leave some related links (such as programs introduced in various countries) that I studied Hatsune Miku is certainly a very interesting phenomenon. You know me Mr B i will give most things a chance, but if this is going to be the future of music then count me out for sure. I want to see a real singer up onstage rocking with their band, call me old school or anything else you want lol but that unfortunately is a big no for me. I for one don't mind vocal effects and other technology being used, but i want it to be done by real bands.
