I just bought the Stylemartin Yu Roc’s due to my RevIt boots not being resoleable. They are a softer leather but have CE armor, look great, waterproof, fairly light weight, Vibram sole and very functional on my Ducati ST4S as well as my Guzzi California 1400 Custom with floorboards. They already fit like a glove and are built to last. Great review.

Very rarely would I wear casual sneakers or “runners” on the bike. I used to always wear the same lace-up side-zip 6” tactical boots I wore for work but recent years has been mostly protective motorcycle specific sneakers or boots. I have a variety but much like your top picks my absolute favorites that tick all boxes are my black TCX MOOD GTX or 6” Brown Oiled Timberland Pro Direct Attach soft toes. Both waterproof, slip resistant and the TCX’s offer great ankle support and protection while the Tim’s are perfect for anytime, anywear, that I’d feel safe in a crash but I think it’s a more popular boot for us New York folk. I also like my 10” Harness and Engineer boots, I have choices ranging from Schott NYC, The Flathead, Frye, Indian and Double H. All welt constructed for proper re-sole and I also have a black Tim style HD boot that’s pretty good and the Midland sneaker boot that has some nice features as well, just don’t appear to be as durable as some of my other offerings. I have Iron Rangers and 1,000 Mile boots but like you said, better for casual wear. Cheers!

I wear what looks like traditional cowboy boots. It's what I grew up in, in the Ozarks (South West Missouri USA). I transitioned from a quarter horse to an iron horse. The particular pair I wear has steel toes and chemical resistance nonslip soles. Round toe not pointed or square toe. There are my work boots and my daily boot. I very rarely wear anything else. I wanted to add because of my 78 shovelhead with the 3-inch open primary. I never wear anything with laces, a recipe for disaster if a lace comes loose and gets into the engine pulley.

The factory I used to work at required steel toe boots, so I rode with those too. As you say, the huge toe can be an obstacle and no ankle armor if you go skidding down the road. They're also too damn heavy to walk around in. Before our steel toe requirement, I used to wear boots like your brown ones, only with rubber soles. Still have them. They last forever, just need a sole put on from time to time. The ankle leather seems much tougher than my work boots. The one downside is laces. For some reason, those thin waxed type don't like to stay tight or even knotted very long. Bad news on bikes w/o shaft drives. In the winter or if I'm traveling long enough I don't trust the sunny forecast, I wear purpose built zip up, goretex, calf high motorcycle boots. Most of the time I wear those ankle high motorcycle boots, like your tennis shoe boots, only they're black and don't look like tennis shoes. I have one pair of them that's perforated to flow air on the hot days and another that's supposedly waterproof for cooler days or days it may rain on a local ride. Unlike my regular boots, they're throw aways. But a few seasons for a $150 seems reasonable to me.

Yeah a lot of people don't like shoe laces but if they are done up with double knots and sit high I don't think they are dangerous. A lot of great choices now for boots.

As i hung up my riding boots for 10 years and the the rest of the riding gear, everything ended up being replaced, sitting in the cupboard, boots had fallen apart after a week of returning to riding, i tried to repair them. Eventually they got tossed, and i could not replace them the company stopped manufacturing them. As i went with a Honda 750 the boots i purchased was to high when changing gears and the toe would get stuck as well as the heal on the pegs, i did not want to adjust the gear lever i was comfortable with its position. Picked up some good cheap boots second hand. Eventually sold the bike. purchased a H.D the gear lever was to high for the cheap boots, I just needed the wider toe. That was good i just then needed to adjust my height. After searching online and travelling to the city and trying on many different brand shoes and many different bike stores. Now being a touring road bike, i was looking at road boots and could not find anything, that suited the height, comfort, length, zipper and the wider toe with safety features. I then started googling dirt bike gear, but that gear did not suit a Harley let alone a person dressed in H.D riding gear. I came across Adventure boots, wide toe, good tread for different surfaces and grip, it had the height, length of the boot came in two sizes short or long and comfort and waterproof to a certain amount of water depending on how much time spent in the wet weather, also came in two or three colors black, tan or brown. And the looks fantastic on the Harley, comfortable to walk in for long distances, climbing stairs, Easy to get on and off by the buckles, dry overnight if they get wet you wouldn't even know your feet were wet. They keep you warm, no amount of wind gets through they are a strong durable thick leather. You showed some good pointers of interest.

OK, I can give a comment. I try to when I have anything to add so... I had to change my style when I started riding again. I am a Red Wing guy, but I quickly realized that square toes would be better for riding. I am from the American South and while I have never worn them in my life, people here like Cowboy boots, and these days they make those with square toes. I also don't like the idea of laces on a bike (even though my bike is shaft driven, old habits from chain drives stick in my mind). So I decided to go that way. So I grabbed a pair of Cody James square toes. The heels are actually a nice added bonus, although the left one is wearing down faster than the right. For me, they are the perfect riding boots. BUT...I did not realize until they arrived that the Cody James boots I bought were of a soft leather. I don't know what you call it, but it is the kind that is leather, but has the texture of suede. Or maybe that is just what suede is...I really don't know. In other words, rain and weather were going to put spots all over them pretty quickly. So I solved that by "staining" them all the way, evenly while waterproofing them at the same time, with mink oil.

I swear to god you were going to put on those pumps and ride on the harley for the stick around to the end part. Disappointed but also relieved. I wear those blue steel work boots - my boots have the ankle protection and heel protection on them so perhaps its a new model ? I also got some RST stunt riders ( mega comfortable difficult to put on and off though ) when I'm riding something that needs a little more finesse with the toesys.

LOL i'm relieved too. The steel blues just died the other day -- but they lasted a long time

Hard Yakka 3065 work boot comfortable, hard wearing, steel caps, tough sole, a must have for me is a boot with a side zip so in the worse case scenario it's real easy for the ambo's to remove them. And the big bonus is you don't look like a try hard wanna be GP rider.

Yeah they are great work boots. The black ones in the video finally gave out and I got a hard yakka pair also

you speak about safety, but many riders wear short sleeves, jackets without protection, no gloves and no helmets.

@@clifffrench4858 That's a hard question to answer because any simulation of an accident won't really be accurate. On a track at high speed I wouldn't have laces personally but we are riding onm the street and this is relatively slow even when riding hard.
