I remember when I heard about this game I was in about 5th grade. My friend told me that on the Tutorial Island you would burn the first shrimp, but never the second. I was so excited to play when I rode my bike home! Over the next several years I would make new friends, explore a new world, get scammed, hacked, and killed. But for the oddest reason I would always come back to the same game. Runescape. I remember I could never pk because all my skills were unevenly leveled.. Then when they re-released the 2007 servers I decided to do everything I didn't do as a kid. I achieved my first 99 skill (cooking), my first barrows armor, and several quests such as Monkey Madness. This game and all the memories it has brung into my life will remain in a special place in my heart, and all the hearts of those who have played the grind that is, and always will be, Runescape.

@@adam7802 I used to be this asshole but my idea was to tell them they will be in a money making video that will get many views online and I need their help in the wilderness to defend me and partake in this allegedly broken money making technique I've found. SO I will be underlevelled so they wouldn't think I can kill them, I'd get them in a cave and my mates will come out and ambush the target and a mage keeping it from leaving. EDIT: also one time we got this one player to withdraw 3 million (all of his coins) INSIDE the wilderness because we told him that he should show the viewers at home how much money he had at the start. super fucked up, the kid was very emotional and I think I ended up returning his money

@@ofir20503 It's so bad. The cannonballs I actually lost because they did the coin swap thing in the trade screen and because I was watching tv I was only half paying attention. I legit quit for months because I had spent literally all day, every day for a week making them, selling them and making more with the profits to get to that point, as I was dying to get a whip - those cannonballs were going to make me enough to buy a whip at the time. Still... better it happened in runescape than in real life.

It’s strange to think we’ll never get this time back. I remember planning on Fridays after school with friends that we would all log in on Saturday morning and do quests together or get together in PvE areas and grind out skills. Now I’m in my late 20’s, running my own business, and some of those same friends are married with kids on the way. I remember over the summer when there was no school, I would wait for my parents to go to bed and sneak on the computer and play Runescape all night...cutting magic trees, picking flax...so many things to do! Starting back when RS2 came out, everyone was a noob. I was 8 at the time, and I slowly grew in level and experience in this vast, beautiful world. The true golden times for me were 2005-2008, when all my friends from school played it. They all slowly quit, but I still had some good online friends I always played with. And so this continued until early 2012, when the game I knew and loved as a child vanished due to investors in Jagex thinking they knew "what was best" for the game ruining the uniqueness of it. Either way, Runescape will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the first online game I ever played, and those 8 years I played it were the most memorable ones of my life.

+The Major I think there are two factors - Firstly the original music files were done many years ago so I assume the audio quality not adequate (you pretty much only had MIDI files, which were outdated years ago). Jagex is also increasingly "rebranding" the game to make it more "modern" and "like other games on the market" so they had to "modernise" the music.

Stevean2 All you have to do is login once and do a daily to realize what the game has become, they are catering to the kids who can't drive themselves to gain experience themselves. Jagex is doing literally everything they possibly can to get you to login every day, so you can get that free XP. They give so much free XP and Bonus XP daily just to try and keep you interested. That's only one of the many problems causing the game to go downhill. However, I won't lie, I began playing RS3 again because other games don't interest me at the moment. I still believe what I say is true.

"Dead" There are hardly ANY players on servers anymore, Varrock used to be completely full of people and it's just, dead. no one in the main square, no one at E Varrock Bank. Shit, no one at the GE anymore. Those that I do run into do not talk. On the other hand, the Mining Guild, and Dwarven Mines are basically free game now, so mining Iron and Coal is simple as hell.

I believe this nostalgia is something very similar than the gen Z experiences on minecraft. so strange to think that i was born in the only time in the universe where it was possible to be 14 years old teen and experience runescape 2 as it originally was. 2004-2006 era was something so unique i can never have enough words to describe it. not just in runescape but being a teen who played runescape back then.
