I’ve been there and got the tea shirt! What a fantastic feeling when it eventually starts!

Imo the best way forward for this type of 2cv renovation is: New galvanised chassis - €1,200 New body shell - €4,500 Then refurbish doors, wings, bonnet and boot. That’s what I did and I don’t regret it.

I have an old 2cv engine (602 Dyane) and i'm also trying to revive it. I still remember when i had an old Dyane with a damaged starter and it was always a laugh when my friends watch me crank the engine by hand. Good luck with your project.

The unmistakable sound of a flat twin engine fires into life, the engine sounds good, looking forward to this project.

Nice job! I really enjoy seeing old cars coming back to life. Good to see the steps you took as well as problems encountered, somehow it makes me feel like I am actually there looking over your shoulder. I wish I could find a 2CV in similar shape in New York State, but alas they are rare/non-existent here!

Thanks for the comment. I can easily find a 2cv for you and get it shipped to NY state if you wanted to 😉

very nice video! Thank you! The sound off this engine is pretty good! À réfection with new seals and perhaps piston kit will probably be necessary. Good luck with the bodywork... It took one year to complete mine!

Thanks. Yes this engine seems to be pretty good. Future will tell.

My first car was a 1963 citroen 2cv. I still have a picture of it on my bulletin board. I loved my 2cv!

Well done, engine sounds good. Carb could probably do with a good clean. I thought the accelerator pump wasn't working, giving a slow pick up as no fuel was being squirted in. Quick to check that though. As well as the + lead to the starter the earth braid from the battery to the body may be a bit corroded. A bit in the future maybe but I hope you are going to vlog the road trip back to your garage in France?

Thanks for the comment and of course I will video the road trip as long as people are interested in watching whatever stupid things I do I will carry on doing them 😀😀

Hi ref to starter motor, its called the Bendix cog, it must be oiled to run free....Thanks for posting....

Thank you for this. I have a spare starter motor so I will restore both and make sure they both run well.

Won't have to worry about driving it very long as it will probably fly to pieces turning 10,000 rpm..

Gasp.... high rpm on a cold engine...
@OldTimerGarage3 жыл бұрын
Yes it hurt me too. The spring between the gas cable and the carb broke.
