I’ve had my LG OLED tv for nearly 4 years now and was the best purchase I ever made. I did experience small burn in recently due to news channel logo but fixed this issue by going into Picture settings and OLED panel settings and clear noise panel. This fixes a lot of picture issues and this then resolved my problem. It’s a nice recovery tool that not many people are aware of. Give it a try if you ever have this problem.

The only thing stopping me from going OLED is my hardcore gaming, and I'm not sure if I'm willing to accommodate moving my xbox every now and then just to watch a movie or having to take extra steps to ensure no burn in happens. The fact that they don't even offer Burn in protection for the first year truly makes me not want to attempt it. It's so hard to decide as I love movies & gaming.

its not an issue if you do screen refresh, but oleds arent really for gaming. your spending money on features like upscaling/processing, which is usually counterproductive for gaming (as it adds lag). i would look at the new 900/950 series from sony, as they added VRR and a couple of other stuff, and you can set a custom profile for the console input, turning off any picture enhancing and lag will be same as other brands.

Even Dolby Cinema is 108nits. 1000nits is reference level used by many HDR colorists in studio using the BVM-X300. 4000nits is generally for those using the Dolby Pulsar.

What most people don't realize is that cheaper TVs that most of us have at home only go as bright as 450 to 600 lumens roughly. 1000 lumens on an OLED TV is enough. There's also the question of contrast, which actually makes the colors pop and nothing can match an OLED display in terms of contrast. Once you see OLED first hand, beside QLED, it is hard to remain unbiased!

Qled is better than Oled if you want to keep your tv for long time. We all know LED diode dies after a while, so based on that it is cheaper and practical to replace LED backlight in Qled than replacing the whole panel in Oled tv when getting deal pixels, because eventually it will happened after use in both Qled and Oled.

I like the idea of the OLED but the burn in and the apparent fragile nature of that tech makes me not want to shell out the bucks for it. If you plan on having any kind of bright logos in a game or news channel on your screen regularly, and for 2 hours or more, avoid OLED. I have one, I am happy with it as I am more a movies and TV man than a gamer, but I did find that after a few weeks of gaming 1-2 hours around 4-5 times a week, one evening the HUD of the game had been retained after I turned it off. I almost shat myself, but followed instructions and did the hour long pixel refresh, which fixed the issue. However, I never gamed on the TV again, as pixel refresh is not recommended for regular use. It didn't really bother me, as I have another large screen LCD and I game sporadically so go through phases of not gaming at all for extended periods. If you are mainly a movie and TV person like me, then OLED is by far the best option. Amazing picture quality, image handling and deep, inky blacks that would even make the CEO of Samsung jizz in his pants.

I own both. The oled looks better, but it was more expensive. The C9's processing chip is pretty amazing. The qled looks pretty damn good though. Both are plenty bright, if anything too bright for my tastes. The amount of light these new tvs put out is crazy in my opinion. The qled might last longer because of the technology though. And they don't have burn in issues. However if you are one of those people getting a new tv every 5 or 6 years it probably won't matter. When doing testing with test patterns and signals the oled will probably win every time. It is just a better technology and handles blacks far better. However when watching movies with proper lighting it probably isn't anything anyone will ever notice. And he is right, off axis stuff the oled wins too. With LED tvs they need to be mounted at the correct height and if you sit off axis or stand up and walk around the room the picture changes. The oled doesn't do that unless you go to extremes. My oled also seems to put out more heat but I didn't actually measure it so take that with a grain of salt. One of the down sides to the oled is some of the tech they use to combat burn in can be annoying. I use mine for a computer monitor as well and the brightness goes up and down while looking at web pages. It is doing it right now as I type this. It tries to dim the screen when it detects a static image. It will dim to the lowest setting. Then when you start typing or scroll down a page the back light will jump back up or slowly waver back and forth. It is quite annoying and I am trying to find a way to disable it but haven't figured out a way yet. I like my oled but honestly if I had it to do over again and had to pay full price I wouldn't buy one. At least not for my personal needs (tv,movies, gaming/computer). For movies only, maybe. I got mine at a pretty good price. It was on sale and an open box model at best buy and was like 800 bucks because it didn't have a box and was missing a couple screws. Other than that it was like new, I don't even think the person plugged it in. All the protective covers and sticker were still on it and it booted up like a new tv taking me through the set up menu when I plugged it in. I think they got it home and it wouldn't fit on their table or stand or something so they brought it back. I would not have paid 2 grand for it new lol. I think most people would be perfectly happy with a TCL 6 series tv.

My adult kids will pause the tv and leave it to pop out to the shops, they keep telling me my Samsung won't burn in contrary to the instructions that Dane with it.

I've been playing PS4 games on my Sony A8F for almost 2 years. 6-5 hours on the weeks days and 12-16 hours on weekends and day off. Still no ghosting or burn-in. So I don't think you should really worry about it.

Purchased a Samsung QLED 55" in January. Very flat, very big and almost no bezel. Quality is excellent - buy he's the thing. It's no better than my old Hitachi 42" plasma purchased in 2007. Not a Smart TV, but damn fine picture quality for the time and still held up over 10 years later. I think that despite the demos in stores and all the reviewer hype, and unless you really need to replace it, your old-school plasma can still kick TV butt!!

Ok so I need opinions on OLED or QLED. I'm planning on buying a Sony one ideally (although open to other brands) for when the PS5 comes out with HDMI 2.1 support as I've read they are generally the best quality. Here is my current situation/usage: 1. Live in a north-west facing flat in the UK so it's not that bright (I've heard that OLED's aren't great in bright light). 2. Weekdays use it a for about 1-2 hours gaming. Usually a mix of Call of Duty and a story mode game like God of War, so some fixed HUDs (such as COD) but then each match lasts 10 minutes before going back to the menu, so not a constant still image. Then a couple of hours on streaming KZbin/watching documentaries. 3. Weekends use it about 7/8 hours a day with about 3 hours on games, again mixing up the game every hour or so. From what I've read I probabaly wouldn't be at too much risk of getting burn in on an OLED because most of the use doesn't have fixed images and even when I do play games, I mix them up regularly. Thoughts?

Oled seems the clear winner. I've heard it's faster, sharper and more accurate. Plus I play in a dark room. Only problem is I play games black ops three which have constant display icons and so forth which I'm sure will burn in.

I must either be very lucky or burn in is not as serious as comments make them out to be. I am a hardcore gamer and movie buff with an OLED TV and have not had even the slightest indication of burn in as of right now after two years with my TV. I upgraded to OLED and honestly could not go back to LCD. However, I have not really looked into Samsung's new TVs so they could be just as good now.

That will probably ruin a LED tv as well to be honest. You can get burn in on LED tvs, you just have to try a lot harder lol. But ya, I wouldn't use your expensive oled tv for one of those fake fire places during the holidays. Tell her to minimize the window and use a screen saver while listening to music, that should help. And if the still images change every few minutes it should be ok ( if its full screen). The logos would be an issue though. Better yet run the audio to something different and turn the tv off so you don't wear out the tv. Even without burn in these tvs, led included have a limited life to them.

Whether you get Burn In on OLED will depend on the TVs safety features. I still have a Panasonic Plasma TV from 2009/10, if I recall the model number it's a VT20 and I've left it on for over 8 hours in a day, with a channel badge in the same place all day. Even after owning it for over 9 years it doesn't have burn in issues. Modern TVs like the LG OLED panel tech shouldn't have any Burn-In issues. I would think the top QLED TVs right now from Samsung would be best for gamers because of Freesync, assuming you own an XBox One X or a gaming PC with a Freesync capable GPU. Presumably the next gen PlayStation, XBox and future gaming devices or cloud services should be Freesync enabled too. Hopefully OLED TV makers and more LCD/LED screens at lower price points will get Freesync in 2020. TBH most modern TVs in the high end arena are phenomenal for picture quality, along with motion and your choice will come down to very personal preferences if you're a person that cares about Picture quality.

OLED is in his infancy. In 8-10 years you can buy an OLED. i want to use it also as a frame for photos and paintings, burn-ins are there a no go. you buy a tv for round about 10 years and burn-in danger is too big for me. OLED has a little bit better black, QLED has a better white. If you see comparisons, you'll find that OLEDs have too much color saturation. People love the strong colors. But QLED's colors are closer to real life. Ask yourself at every picture comparison: How would it look in real?
@katakisLives4 жыл бұрын
so basically QLED is superior overall

What's the point of watching the video if you're gonna draw a random conclusion and disregard what the person spent 10mins explaining? OLED panels have glorious viewing angles and the blacks and contrast levels are unmatched. That's helpful especially if you have guests or a lot of people are watching the same screen. Plus proper HDR content looks amazing on these panels. The peak brightness of say 1000nits on an OLED is more than enough given how a lot of people use tvs with 300-600nits peak brightness and even then they don't set it to max. What I'm trying to say is 1000nits is enough for everyone and you don't really need 2000nits of screen brightness unless you're shining a floodlight on your screen for some reason. As for screen burn in that everyone is scared of, it's pretty rare tbh. Used to be more common in earlier displays like a pixel phone but like explained in the video, unless you leave your tv on continuously like in a hospital/waiting room, you're probably fine.
@katakisLives4 жыл бұрын
@@lordpencil6905 I just watched the video right the way through a second time and I stand by my original comment. if my LCD TV died tomorrow I'd go QLED, I don't want to watch my TV in a pitch black room, I don't want burn in where the videogame hud is I want a TV thats going to last a good long time! my LG TV is over ten years old and still going strong I don't want to pay a huge amount for a tv that won't last as long, you just get more for your money with non OLED tv's and they last longer, the next big thing I'm looking forards to one day is MLED

It's always going to come down to personal preference and personal situation . I have just bought a Samsung Q9 and love it , a friend has a sony A1 and it looks fantastic but the QLED suited me for the freesync with xbox one x . The picture quality is very close , can we not just appreciate the amazing tech we have and move on , fan boys get boring real quick .
