Thanks for posting Stew. George Harrison once said in an interview that George Jones had the greatest voice in American music. If Hank Williams is the King of country music, Jones is right after that’s for sure.

I like how George got his drinking pretty much under control at the end... it seems that way at least, compared to in his early years. That man literally gives me hope

George is such a classic. At the time, he mentioned to us that David Letterman had contacted him about being on The Late Show, but said he didn't think he would feel comfortable going there. I told him to do it ... he went on the show later in 2006.

Hey Stew- Was this in about 1996? I lived in Branson at the time and was at that show and was standing outside that bus. He was walking into the Grand Palace, pry right after this interview, and I got a pic of him waving.
@olestew5 жыл бұрын
This interview was later ... around 2004. I started doing RVtoday in 2000, and the Branson visit was a few years later ... I think George had a few before we talked to him!

@@rockyfanatic6846 We shot this in 2006. George asked me at the end of the interview if he should take David Letterman's invitation to appear on The Late Show. He thought Letterman might just make fun of him. I told him, "DO it George ... Letterman is a big fan." He appeared on the show six months later, sang "He Stopped Loving Her Today", not a dry eye in the house!

@banditdarville968 жыл бұрын
If you're talking about Tammy Wynette, she wasn't alive when this was filmed. She passed in 1998, and this was filmed in the early 2000's. Also if you didn't know, Tammy and George divorced in either 1975, or 76.
