Have you tried the new Real Colors from AK-Interactive? What are your thoughts on them?
@brettbarrow43835 жыл бұрын
Love them! Well, the way they spray at least. Some of their color choices look a little funky but maybe they come out alright after weathering. Their US ODs are good, I really like the SCC15 British OD too.
@NightShiftScaleModels5 жыл бұрын
I've only seen these OD paints and their 4BO. OD looks great, but the basic tone is way too dark for my style of weathering, but it can definitely work. However I think there are better 4BO paints out there, Mr. Paint is my fav and the one offered by Ammo looks also good.
@brettbarrow43835 жыл бұрын
@@NightShiftScaleModels Yeah, their 4BO is a bit too desaturated I think. I like the Ammo one (the #019, the modulation ones not as much) and AKAN is usually my go-to for 4BO, those two are really close.
@sherminator9815 жыл бұрын
You have to be careful with decal setting solutions with them-they can get attacked by them. Otherwise I like them
@brettbarrow43835 жыл бұрын
@@sherminator981 I always apply a layer of gloss or satin clear before decalling and weathering so no problem there. I wouldn't put a decal straight onto a paint as matte as the armor Real Colors anyway. The new aircraft ones are nice and satin though.

Hm, if you're going to transfer the primer from a spray can into your airbrush, wouldn't it be better for you to spray it directly into the airbrush's funnel instead then mix it with the thinner there ? Sweet build, regardless. I'm pretty much done binge watching this whole channel for now lol, I'll be waiting for the next model.

According to black and white photos (it's just a personal issue) this FFI B1 was captured by résistants just before allied entry in Paris by 25th of August. Frequently suffering hydrolics problems, it should have been abandoned in a street south of Paris. May be in the town of Anthony. Résistants don't change the original camouflage scheme. They've just applied dark peint over german crosses and markings. The scheme was probably German dark green large patches over an overall light panzer Grey. The drive rollers were still in sand scheme. It''s not quiet sure... Because lots of variants depending of crews paint disponibilities and time to applied paint. Anyway, just after Paris libération, needs for extra tanks, not to be obliged to divert to much forces to Royan Pocket, pushed french armourd staff to refurbish whatever heavy materials they can found. General de Gaulle political needs for an entire French operation in national soil, in France, was a nightmare for Free French Forces because they didn't want to loose forces and time in a less interesting and durable attrition operation. So B1 and B2 were refurbished, painted with olive drab and wore us white stars... Sorry for my English, try my best.

I would have sprayed the faded olive drab on the panels between the rivets and probably would have gone ahead with the second lighter color, but only as a highlight, and sparsely. But as far as the whole premise of the video, I prefer to not use decals as much as possible. Sure it takes more time, but I think it looks better painting the markings. Number one, you don't have to worry about the thickness of the decals nor the carrier film silvering. And, it's much easier to weather and especially chip, because you don't have concerns of accidentally scratching through the base color, if you do subtractive chipping (i.e. if you use the hairspray method, compared to picking at the decals with a blade) Good job. Thanks for sharing your tips. 👍👍
@NightShiftScaleModels5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. That's why post-shading or any other method of "playing" with the base coat is so cool - it gives you a lot of creative freedom. If one modeller decides to add lighter colors in the center of each panel, another modeller might decide to do a color modulation, another one would highlight panel lines, etc. Deffo agree on the markings, but it's not always an option.

Klasicky super video :) Mal by som taku otazku k praci s gumenymi pasami, presnejsie s gumenimi kolesami :) Ako ich najlepsie farbit / patinovat?
@NightShiftScaleModels5 жыл бұрын
Ahoj, ťažko povedať, moc s tým skúsenosti nemám, robil som s gumovými kolesami iba raz a tam som to riešil tak, že som ich nastriekal bez surfaceru so svetlejšou šedou a tú potom akrylovým riedidlom ošúpal dole, aby to hodilo takú jemnú textúru. Ten kontrast medzi šedou farbou a farbou toho materiálu spraví dobrý efekt. A to som potom len jemne preprášil zemitou farbou z pištole a na to trochu pigmentov a mokrých efektov. Ale ako hovorím, bolo to dávno. Po tých rokoch ale stále nič nepopraskalo.

For a real nice, rich matte dark gray, you should check out DunkelGrau. I use it all the time for shading. There are various companies that make agood examples of that color. It has a depth to it that I honestly cannot effectively describe. Just like with "ultra black", it could be called "ultra dark-gray". It absorbs more light than it seems like it ought to.
