Oh wow, the memories this brings back. I was 11 years old… insane. We had moved across country and I was so depressed for several years. No therapy, no counseling, because what was that back in the day? Some mumbo jumbo voodoo, at least to my family. So I had music. I wonder what kind of damage that era did to my adolescent mind. Lol. People say only we are responsible for ourselves, and of course that’s true, but in the 90s therapy and mental health weren’t quite as openly discussed and pursued as now. I had more going on than just moving away from my childhood home… but music like this was always an escape. ♥️

In August 1997, I played the city square of a capitol, not music so much as mixed sounds from the history of technology, among which was 512 tracks of marching feet making the gradually imposing rhythm of what could've been a DJ set. Doesn't matter how many people were there, and not whether money was made, what matters is that there were no fences, and the cultural department let me go ahead after I played a bit of what I planned to do for the cultural mayor. The world was more open, then.

I lived in Berlin in the 90’s (94-98), working on the tools and being English we worked on a Saturday morning, the `German’s didn’t. Driving across the city in mid-winter -8’c showing on the incar display & not seeing another car or soul about for most of the journey, then this came on the radio. It was perfect for that moment & it’s stuck with me now for near 30 years. Whenever I hear “your not alone” I’m back driving across a dark deserted East side of Berlin.

@@johnturtle6649 I can only comment about the years I lived in Berlin, but back then the German’s worked 40hr weeks after that they got heavily taxed, it’s about quality of life. The English worked 12 hr days and untill 1pm or 4pm on the Saturdays. Some companies the guys work 3 12hr days with no lunch hour and had a four day weekend other like the tower crane drives worked our hours but took the overtime pay not as money but holiday time. The drivers loved it as for every week the worked they got a near a week off with pay, Ralf the driver on my section didn’t miss a day for the 16months of the job we were on and he planned to do a year of back packing with his year off with full pay.

Love this song. Most vivid memory of it was a house party New Years Eve seeing in 2000 and a bunch of us, very close friends hugging and telling each other how much we loved them (usual loved up mess 😀). Of those that were there 4 are now gone, suicide, accidents & illness, all in their early 30's. Brings back some very bitter sweet memories but still smile where I hear this song and remember that night. It was the last time all of us were together in one place and all were so full of life and joy.

She liked it and I remember coming home and hearing her singing in the kitchen. Even though I know there will be a time when my best friend leaves me, I won't be alone given the great presence she is in my life and has always been. It's a journey I will never forget or regret being a part of. Amongst all the many things she taught me, one of these was that you never truly understand the value of cherished moments until they become memories.

I will forever remember how I first heard this masterpiece all these years ago. I used to leave the radio on all night, couldn't fall asleep without it, and one summer morning I woke up to this. It was unusually early for me - my brain must have told me: "Wake up, mate! You don't want to miss this one!". It was one of the amazing moments of my life.

I've found listening to a lot of songs while I sleep allows me to appreciate them differently, even from my favorite artists. Recently I fell in love with Analogical and Jaded by deadmau5 in this manner.

Maaaan.. This is one of those _really_ obscure gems. I had this on a cassette tape and never could figure out who sang it although I would occasionally search for it online back in the early 2000s on my webTV. It's nice to be able to finally jam this again.

Ruth Ann is the singer and her lost "love" in this video is Tim Kellet, the Keyboard/Synth player and one of the Sound Engineers of this song. Apparently she works for British Gas now, which is sad to hear considering how successful she was in 1997. ☹️

At least she gets warmer in winter time with all that cozy gas... Ha ha ha!!! Love her voice btw gem from 97 I remember listening to the radio back then and the host of the top 40 ranking presented OLIVE like a premiere British group I was blown away by the rhythm, I was fed up of listening constantly to Don't Speak (No Doubt) and Miss You (Everything But The Girl) on the radio back then in every station. Thank God OLIVE showed up to save my day. Warm regards from a very distant place called Chile.

There's something so dreamlike & far-away about this tune, & it's set against a building techno backing that alternates with that one-note synth line, topped with Olive's reassuring yet yearning voice , so it makes a Big, Big One for Your Heart and for Your Dance.

I saw Olive perform this live at Southern Sound's 'Party in the Park', Preston Park, Brighton in the mid-90's when it was in the charts. It chucked it down with heavy rain all day - this song was the highlight of that day and it still sounds as brilliant now.

In a way its all a matter of time I will not worry for you you'll be just fine Take my thoughts with you and when you look behind You will surely see, a face that you recognize Your not alone I'll wait 'till the end of time Open your mind, surely it's plain to see Your not alone I'll wait 'till the end of time for you Open your mind, surely there's time to be with me It is the distance that makes life a little hard Two minds that once were close now so many miles apart I will not falter though, I'll hold on to your home Safely back where you belong And see how our love has grown Your not alone I'll wait 'till the end of time Open your mind, surely its plain to see Your not alone I'll wait 'till the end of time for you Open your mind, surely there's time to be with me You're not alone I'll wait 'till the end of time Open your mind, surely it's plain to see Your not alone I'll wait 'till the end of time for you Open your mind, surely there's time to be with me Your not alone I'll wait 'till the end of time Open your mind, baby there's timeto be with me Your not alone I'll wait 'till the end of time Open your mind, surely there's time to be with me Your not alone I'll wait 'till the end of time with you Open your mind, baby there's time for me and you

I was year 10 in high school when I first heard this, and I have not forgot this tune. As a man the 90s was a decade of continuous new musical genres all hitting in every direction. I loved going to hmv, tower records and spending time listening to new old music. We had no youtube and ease of music availability, a cassette zo record of radio, if your lucky cds or the prime della creme VINYL..
