OK to clarify all this in a short way: The singer Oliver Tree released ‘Jerk’ in 2020. Two years later, a small producer called Southstar made a remix using Oliver’s vocals. Not even having the rights for it. The song went unnoticed for a while, until someone promoted his song on Instagram. It got to Oliver Tree’s attention and Oliver complained about it, so Southstar made a new version with someone else’s vocals and cleared the rights with Oliver Tree and his team. Then not even a month later, Robin Schulz made the EXACT same instrumental but in his style, and then collaborated with Oliver (probably because they’re on the same label), and made a new song.

It was "Oliver's first morons". My guy, sampling and interpolation is something thats been used in the music industry for a very long time to make new transformative works. The instrumental and vibe IS southstars but it uses lyrics from another song. Thats totally normal. Is Stan by Eminem actually Didos song? No, but it is more so than Miss you will ever be because other than eminems rapping and lowend layers, it contains way more of Didos song than Miss You does Jerk. The sound is completely different than Jerk, and southstar made that sound.

You don’t seem to understand that what Southstar did was basically illegal, since he changed the original without the consent of the original author / copyright owner. Whenever I hear an EDM tune playing, it brings me back to the days of growing up in Los Angeles in the early 90s. Back then we called it house music or techno. I was 16. I'd be waiting in a car with friends on Melrose usually at a cramped second story record shop whos name I cant remember, we would go there to buy rave tickets, then we'd search for a payphone, call a voice mail number after 8 pm to get directions to an illegal warehouse rave. Back then, the music was underground. They couldn't give out the event locations in advance because cops would shut them down. You couldn't buy electronic music in mainstream music stores or hear it on too many radio because society considered it drug culture music. The only time you could hear it for a couple hours on Power Tools after midnight. Man, I miss those days. There was something in the air, you could feel the electricity. Something was being born. It's blows my mind to think electronic nusic is now played during the day in major event stadiums.
