Amazing. Best living male jazz vocalist IMO. What a set.

I'd say best vocalist period (yes, I know Ella, Sarah and Billie). But don't tell him..

New Body and Soul has got to be one of the greatest vocal performances ever to happen...and Hobgood's solo is insane

Yes! Laurence Hobgood! Killin’ Piano Player & Richard Bona Guitar/bass. Excellent musicians. 👌🏼

I've been following KE for awhile now. Attended several live performances in NYC and a Masterclass . Wish LH still collaborated with KE for spontaneous combustion ! MF "Night Moves"/LR "This Masquerade" brilliant !

Sorry but Kurt Elling is nothing like Sinatra. Elling is neither better or worse - why compare?. No one, not even the great Tony Bennet has a vocal range, rubato or legato like Elling. Fabulous. Thank you. There is genius around still. :-)

After Sinatra , Elling is tops.
@nikelodeon68524 жыл бұрын
@@JoeyDeLago Sinatra didn't have half the range or versatility of Elling so no...

I dig Sinatra's work, but he's not even in the same ballpark as Elling.
@benjaminhall57842 жыл бұрын
Worth noting that there perhaps isn't an Elling without there first being a Sinatra.

Bob's reed work in the aforementioned ....... incandescent ! Artist collage , time , place ....... can't get it back . Ephemeral
@miropribanic55812 жыл бұрын
am I mistaken or did Kurt base his solo on Body and Soul on Dexter Gordon's solo of that song?...The fact that he mentioned his name at the very end made me suspicious....this performance by Elling and his blokes is a very precious moment in jazz

Please someone, what is the song he splices into Foolish Heart? When he starts with "The Moon..." It's really beautiful, what the hell is that song? I need to learn it...
@JoHeN1990 Жыл бұрын
The lyric was from a poem (google the lyrics and it will pop up). But melody-wise I believe it is KE's original

oddly, he did not call Richard Bona on stage at the end...probably he had to hurry to another gig?
