Hi Oliver, have an idea for a rear break. Use the break in the hub, as the hub is not used for driving, let the sprocket idle and weld a lever arm on the sprocket and connect to a link to a foot pedal break.

Like your work. When I was your age in 1967, I put an English racer 3 speed hub in back wheel. Was great fun til I power down shifted and sheared a gear...but really worked well shifting up.

Absolutely loved it! The Swedish alphabet is there, the green little Ryobi grinder and your awesome sense of humor. I cannot thank you enough. I am voting for the "handclutch", because I would like this project to be able to utilize the bike's internal gears. Granted, that will be a bit difficult, fitting all there, but it is what my heart whishes. Thank you once again, and I am so much looking forward to the next part. Sincerely, Alicia from Sweden.

Foot pedal clutch. Just make sure to use some sort of safety stop so you don’t “over-push”? the pedal.
@williamrhea5400 Жыл бұрын
great video and explanations ! i did a v-belt drive and for the ''whizzer style drive ring'' i used a plastic wheelchair rim , i shaved the spokes down to thin them to clear frame and so it would 'sandwich' flush against my wheel , the center of the w-chair wheel fit over the wheel hub making it like true center...
@Everatti3 жыл бұрын
I think a foot clutch would be quite unique. Most other projects you’ve built have a hand clutch. I’d try a foot clutch to switch it up! It’ll also look a bit cleaner than a huge lever next to you.
@OliverMotorized3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t seen one comment for the hand lever yet! Thanks for the input
@ryanE953 жыл бұрын
Since you dont have rear brakes anymore, you could use the handlebar brake lever as a clutch release, as if it were a dirt bike. Not sure if youd be able to make enough force to overcome spring compression needed for the tensioner however. Worth a shot though
@sageminentjunky51979 ай бұрын
Great job welding those rims? I've welded my share of bike frames and know just how thin that metal is, I can't imagine what welding a rim most of been like. Also,I really like the way you thought to power the bike with rear wheel like that. Thanks for the ideas and inspiration.
@aliciaantoniadis91003 жыл бұрын
Crap. I just read your comment where you say you will not be able to use the bike's gears. Well, I will just have to wait and see how this turns out. And with that said I think this project will get the footclutch. May the force be with you Oliver.

That motor is enormous, my 2stroke Suzuki 3.8hp M120X lawnmower engine is less than 5kg on my bicycle, and the best part is, its got cast iron bore and conrod, also needle roller bearings, does 85kph, but I bet your Briggs and Stratton is more economical lol.

Looking good, fun project. Also I think a foot clutch would be cool and functional 👍
@Nunya_Bidnez3 жыл бұрын
Both clutch setups are unsafe. Just put a centrifical clutch on it. If you drop it and its running. These methods could make it engaged the whole time. I would say the leaver if you are going that way. Maybe with a way to make it drop out of service if it gets bumped. You may need to balance the wheel. its not hard if you do a bit of research. good ole fashioned coaster breaks work well but the main issue i see is if your under power and you break. They will fight each other. Just food for thought Oliver dude. You may get away with just welding a new ring all the way around the rim (sprocket side) and that will make it smooth again. If the brakes will go this wide

Foot pedal clutch. Also I see you have the crossfire pro plasma table do you have the plasma cutter they offer with the table? If so do you recommend it?
@OliverMotorized3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have the stock razorweld cutter on there. The only issue I’ve had is that the air won’t stop after a part is cut out. So I have to press a button to stop it-not a big deal. But I’m not sure if that’s the plasma cutter or a software issue. I don’t really have any experience to compare the razorweld to but it seems to do the job. It has stopped a few times mid cut, but that could be because of air quality or poor ground. A lot of reviews say it’s a bad cutter but I’m happy with it so far.

the hand lever looks more cool , aesthetically pleasing. but the Foot pedal seems to make more practical sense. Go wild! :) - I love it. I built a moped last summer. but just with a made in china kit. but put it on a bike from the 7os that we rode around as kids. so I had to do a lot of custom work, and am now machining parts, had to pretty much completely rebuild the bike from scratch . but I am not pleased with the china 2 stroke kits. so definitely taking inspiration from you. (roto tiller, lawnmower engines). My sister's bicycle (From when we were kids) - is very similar to the one you are using here and has the 3 speed hub...hrmmmm... thanks so much :D
