what the heck.... now- if Grease came out in 78 and this interview is in 83...that's five years!!!! They look SO comfortable with each other here.... WHAT in the heck happened??? I watched videos of him and his wife (who looks like her by the way) and I've never seen him look at his wife the way he looks at Olivia... even today... 2019.. ah man.. why is life so cruel? Would've loved for them to live "happily ever after'.....!!!!!! Can't stop watching the two of a kind video... HOT..!!!!!!!

I vaguely recall maybe watching portions of it back then- we mostly only had what came out on TV- But, when I watched it 6 months ago it had a huge impact on me after watching all of their interviews together! That movie was not given justice back then- bad reviews- and is very difficult to find now. I think they had so much fun making that movie together, only to have it flop. I wonder if that is one of the things to cause their "relationship?" to go sour at the time?

I think John loved Olivia more than she loved him. I think they may have slept together a few times perhaps and were intimate but it never got deep enough for a commitment or even marriage. I think John may have been too wild or not stable enough for Olivia. Olivia seemed more a settle down marriage with kids traditional conservative type. Whereas John was more a Lone Ranger and didn’t want to be tied down. Also Olivia lived in Australia I think and John lived in The States so that was an issue. I don’t think John wanted to live in Australia at all with his Hollywood based career and American lifestyle. But they had a real special friends with benefits perhaps.

Jolivia was truly the Brangelina of the 80's. Any two "friends" that are draped over each other have chemistry but it's almost too comfortable. Being so cozy with someone after awhile is like eating sugar all day.

You took the words out of my mouth! It's almost a little weird how comfortable they are together. If I didn't know who they were I'd think they were a couple. I wonder how Olivia's then-soon-to-be-husband felt about this! :P Looks like John and Olivia really were great friends (and still are?). It's rare to see actors with that kind of chemistry and camaraderie off screen.

I've watched parts 1 & 3 several times now ( too bad pt 2 is STILL unavailable). As the interview concludes Olivia has her left leg drawn up, resting on John's thigh, he has his hand on her right thigh, and she has her right hand on his forearm. They're so close together, NOT the way "friends" sit together. Its very intimate the way they touch each other. I'm not a student of body language but it just seems they MUST have had a physical relationship at some time, they're so comfortable together

I don't know if they had a physical relationship but in every interview when you see them together, they are sitting close and touching. I believe they loved each other very much and it is sad that they never married and shared a life.

yea , you would have to be blind or from another planet to not know these two were a couple at some time , they are just both very private and protective of each other and very respectful . I love watching them together and any other couple in love for that matter ;D their light rays shine so bright and far that it is tangible. I find observing humans and none human animals in love so fascinating

Well, that's the second lengthy interview from '83 that I've watched with the pair (after Bobbie Wygant's on Vimeo) in which they said virtually nothing about making the film they were promoting... which would be totally annoying if they weren't so damned cute and funny together. Thanks for sharing, I don't remember this - but I DO remember HBO running the movie constantly!

I am English and had never heard of this Dick Cavett until a year or two back seeing him interviewing someone else here on KZbin. I like his witty and laid back manner. He's very right about the lovely pair, Olivia and John, being very 'real' people. It was a very relaxed and witty interview.

I’m definitely sure they had something going on between them you don’t has that intimate relationship with a good friend.
