LONG time Carly fan who so richly deserved this. Although I really wanted Carly to perform (she was in mourning for the loss of her sisters who died one day apart), I was absolutely thrilled with Olivia's performance. I'm sure Carly was impressed as well.

@@Snailmail1 Hi..it was so sad. Lucy and Joanna, both performers who had careers, apparently also had cancer, although that was kept quiet. By some stroke of horror, BOTH died a day apart. Carly was pretty shattered from the news reports I read, and she certainly wasn't going to travel. She's also older and I once read that she hates flying. I believe it is a highlight if a performer can do their own songs, but circumstances can crop up (health, family issues, etc.) and they don't always. I was disappointed that she didn't sing "You're So Vain" as she shocked people and sung it with Taylor Swift onstage a few years ago, but I totally get why she couldn't do it.

And the fact that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame reached out to a 19 year old Olivia to perform Carly Simon's most infamious song that reached #1 back in early 1973 speaks volumes how the music industry today feels towards Olivia Rodrigo as an artist. I just hope she doesn't have to wait 40 years to get her Induction ...

Olivia seems to truly appreciate the music of the great women who paved the road for young women in the music industry today. She is an old soul, with youthful appearance and energy. The world would of music wouldn’t be what it is now, if not for the Patsy Cline’s, Kitty Wells’, CarleyvSimon’s, Linda Rondatadt’s, to the Anne and Nancy Wilson’s, Stevie Nicks’ & Etta James’ (to name a small handful), of the world.
