Ma. Rosa I was taught to scale using water too. Dry scaling on the counter created a mess and extra clean up work that could have been avoided. When watching cooking videos it’s always interesting to see how others do things and a reminder that there’s more than one way to do it. In the end, the meal looked delicious.

Whenever I remove the scales from fish, I do it under water. ( I fill a basin with lime water and hold the fish beneath the surface.) The scales fall inside the water and are not all over my kitchen. This makes for an easy clean-up.

Next time lay out some newspaper to scale and clean the fish.. when I was a little girl, my next-door neighbors would always take their two young sons fishing, and they would always bring us back fresh caught fish. My sister and I would sit on the top step, spread newspaper out, and scale, clean& fry the fish.‼️Those were the best tasting fish😘👍🏽❤

My sister worked at a fish market and the worst part is the person who has to scale fish all day it's a smelly and hard job the scales all over the place .If I'm not mistaken she would always scale it under cold running water why she was scaling, but they had bigger sinks and large selling product of fish so they used a garden hose why she was cleaning and scaling fish. It's suppose to be easier that way scaling while the water running. Plus you had to use gloves those scales can cut you.

First time viewing your channel. Agree with other comments on descaling. Suggestion: Ask the market staff about scaling fish for you when you are purchasing it. Your prep would be much easier. You would still wash it prior to cutting and seasoning it. Also, DO NOT USE Aluminum foil to wrap your fish. It is not healthy for you or your family because Aluminum leeches into/unto the fish. Place your fish on a shallow roasting pan instead.

Scaling fish is a hard job and a messy one at that she did that like a pro. Those scales on fishes feel like glass it can easily cut you. I prefer the scaling and mess to be done at the market.
