As someond doing last minute cramming, thank you for your calm clear explanations! means a lot

Thanks a lot Ollie. These types of videos although longer and takes more effort is extremely helpful - I think just having one or a few of these videos is enough as it provides a good framework that people should follow without you burning out making all these helpful videos. Breaking down the crux of the problem and your approach is what I was hoping for, it really helps as it shows what we should be keeping in mind and thinking about when answering questions.

Thanks so much, I'm glad they've come out well! I've written about 5 of these scenarios which assess different traits so hopefully we'll get enough coverage!

@@OllieBurtonMed I think the whole set assessing a few different traits will be enough to cover a lot of ground then! As always, brilliant effort!

Thank you, Sir. I actually feel alone when it turned out that I was THE ONLY ONE who would like to respect the integrity of science and the educational system. That I want to learn and be trained as a competent doctor someday and not have my existence be governed by arbitrary numbers or take exams just to pass. I dont want to give myself some false sense of security if I am not actually studying enough. Atleast maybe this video validated my ideas on academic integrity and that i wasn't actually... wrong in choosing not to cheat.

I guess the tradition in medical school is very different from either GCSE or A-level, where multiple years worth are published (not the most recent year, but only because it's held back for mocks) or some other subjects, e.g. maths, astrophysics, computer science or philosophy at Cambridge, which are on the public website (other subjects' exams are no doubt available to students, at least in the University Library, which the public would no doubt get a ticket to visit if for inspecting Cambridge exam papers). Also, "writing new questions"? I thought the question was about sharing LAST year's exam questions? Very different from sharing the CURRENT year's exam questions!

Hi I was wondering how this would play out in a similar situation where by your friend has asked you for the questions from say a test or a medical interview you have done and they will be taking. I know you would say no and explain to them why but is this a situation you would be expected to report them? My initial thought is no as no harm has been done as long as you inform your friend of the reasons behind saying no. thanks!

I recently saw this question. If you can make a video on this or just briefly explain how you would approach it that would be very helpful! Thank you for your videos they're very useful and informative :) Can private filming of patients be justified if the hospital felt the patient was being abused?
@OllieBurtonMed2 жыл бұрын
I do need to do something about filming patients - can I just clarify do you mean a doctor/HCP filming a patient, or a patient recording something happening in the hospital?
@hannahelsawyali41952 жыл бұрын
@@OllieBurtonMedI mean a HCP filming a patient in order to ensure they're not being abused, although I know it is common for patients to film HCPs and that itself is something that has its own ethical considerations.

@@hannahelsawyali4195 Basically impossible without consent I would imagine, as would be very paternalistic and very invasive of privacy. I can only think of a very small number of situations where it could be argued for - one might be someone with severe epilepsy AND significant cognitive disturbance where you'd need to know at any given time if they were seizing. But in terms of filming someone ?abuse, I can't imagine something like that ever being allowed, in or outside of hospital. Infringes on way too many rights for little potential gain.

I think it’s a great way of coping. But what if they ask you for names? Do you immediately give them or can you refuse?

I don't believe they can legally force you. Up to you I guess, have to make a judgment call!

I think it's important to ask why they want to cheat
@vincetheworldly5374 жыл бұрын
No excuses. That's just a convenient way of removing the responsibility from yourself. As an adult you must already know which is right from wrong and must maintain your integrity not for your own selfish desires and goals but as your responsibility as a future doctor, even if the environment does you no favors.
@keeweeow6244 жыл бұрын
@@vincetheworldly537 I think you have the wrong idea. The whole idea for asking why they want to cheat is so I can help them. If they feel overwhelmed with the amount of work involved or they are confused with a topic, it's good to suggest they see their lecturer, tutor etc. If it's because they can then you tell them that you have a duty to let the examiners know the papers have been leaked.
