Best Black Mirror episode ever, and the only non dystopian one I remember so far.
Hoping that one day stuff like that will be real.
The song is Heaven is a place on earth by Belinda Carlisle.

It wasn't happy at all! The entire episode was about as a lesbian you can't live your life. It's death and regret. But because our hearts are already broken they refused to make a sad story to look at. Instead a story to enjoy even if the meaning was horrific.

@@yellow_three they made the choice to live in an artificial afterlife together. the story itself was sad bc coma and all the other sad shit, but in the end, it was a happy ending bc she was afforded the opportunity to live a life similar to what she would've missed, even if she wasn't in the coma, the homophobia would've still been there. plus the main factor in the happy ending for me, is that they both got together in the end. in most other lesbian shows/movies/stories one either decides to leave, dies, or they leave the story open ended(which imo may be happy but isnt as happy as a definite ending together)

That episode is dual, the end is happy and very sad at same time. They cant live like they want in real world and is unclear how much time in our society, they will let died people in countless datacenters full time ON (forever can't be forever in capitalism). The take with the machine arm is to we see how it not will be sustainable. If EUA have that tecnology today, some congressmen would be voting to turn off datacenters, claiming energy savings for the living and biblical issues, all that with the president's full support.

During the ending scene of this episode, I never felt so damn emotional from watching an TV episode of anything. Seeing them dancing together for eternity in the '80s and all those beautiful lights in the "TCKR Systems" building flashing to the beat of the song like a disco...it felt so magical to me. The beauty about this episode was that while most Black Mirror episodes show the dangers of advanced technology, this one showed the beauty of what it could possibly do.
@pilotavery
@pilotavery 4 жыл бұрын
For me it was seeing all of those lights flashing. And zooming out and seeing thousands of them, thousands of dead people who get to live together for eternity where nothing hurts and everything is perfect. Especially people who have horrible lives or didn't get to live properly. It was chilling and it made me cry seeing the shot of her driving through the countryside and then showing the TCKR datacenter where everything takes place. Like so disconnected, but so beautiful.

Their attempt at recreating the 80s feels like a cheap ersatz facsimile of the 80s . All the actors were one-dimensional caricatures of people in the 80s who lacked the natural insouciance, naivety, and natural coolness of people in the 80s.

I love how they wrote Kelly as a bisexual character that didn't have to explain her orientation. Like we know she's into girls at the beginning, then we learn she loved and was married to a man, and it's just like 'oh she goes both ways'. Idk, it was really nice how they didn't give her a scene where she had to explain it, or a scene where she has a crisis about who she likes. Just a bi, maybe pan, character being themselves without explanation.

This episode changed my life. I was kinda dead inside but this episode was so god damn good it even reached into me and woke me up and ever since then I've just been a much brighter and generally more outgoing person. I know it wasn't just the episode, but the winter weather my country was experiencing, and me hurrying to a restaurant to meet my family right after this episode. The combination of my awakened emotions, the hurry, the interactions with other people, made me realize how much fun life is and how it's so full. We can't even imagine that, and I don't want to go through that, everyone will eventually get bored, no matter how many decades, new technology and different things people see, they will one day wake up and say that's it , can we die now? Can we be at peace? Death isn't so scary when it comes at the right time. Like living a full life first

This episode is still emotional it's been like three four years since it came out I was born in 1968 so I lived the eighties like these characters I had a fake ID when I was 17. The time frame they represent looks about 86 to 89. I remember when heaven is a place on Earth came out the song was huge Belinda Carlisle was all over the place in fact we go up with her when she was a Go-Go the song has so much meaning to begin with. I spent my summers in the late 80s pretty much every weekend in a few weeks at the beach I grew up there with my family during the summer time went to clubs just like the place they met Kelly looks so much like most of the girls have been dating my entire life even today black or white hispanic that same kind of look that free spirit pretty eyes shorter. So I must say that if something like this was ever possible I would go there and spend the rest of my time. To this day no time frame has ever been anything like 86 to 92

I don't know but this episode had me on a different level when I first seen it. I was very used to of other Black Mirror episode's endings. But this episode was just so different. The feeling when I shifted from e3 to e4 it was a roller coaster. The feeling was mixed. It was bittersweet since the ending was happy knowing they'll be together for as long and Yorkie is finally living with a life she always wanted since her family were homophobic, but it was also sad knowing that Yorkie was like that for how many years and she spent her whole life living in a virtual world having no idea what its actually like out there. For me, I feel Yorkie more. Because all she just wanted was to live a life that she wanted for a long time (as a lesbian who grew up with a homophobic community) but I felt Kelly too. So, if I will be each of them I would say the same. So yeah, I empathized both of the characters. This episode also gives a nostalgic feeling in a retrospective way, the aesthetic was very pleasing and everyone could find this nostalgic even through they never been in 80s like me. The nostalgic feeling also made me empathized with the whole episode, it feels like I'm feeling the same thing or what it's like to be there. When I watched this episode, I was having a bad day and I finished it not knowing what to feel. What a beautiful episode, this will always be my favourite Black Mirror episode and I will always adore it. Deserves winning two EMMYs SO MUCH.

I see some comments saying Kelly chose to be with Yorkie instead of her dead husband. I don't think so. He's dead. Kelly had no obligation to be a widow forever. Besides, she clearly showed that she still loved him after Yorkie tried insulting his memory. So no, Kelly did nothing wrong. She loves both her husband AND Yorkie.

This episode makes me happy and very sad at the same time. I’m ultimately sad though because I know it can’t happen. We’ll all be gone someday. Forever. 😢

I hate that I discovered that this song is tied to this television series. One day this song just popped into my head and I went to KZbin it and I saw this video and read the comments then went down the rabbit hole and figured out the connection now this song makes me nostalgic and depressed at the same time and now I hate that I love this song because it gives me an existential crisis everytime but I can't get this song out my head!🤦🏽‍♂️❤️‍🔥😭

Heaven is a Place on Earth has a whole new meaning since watching the enchanting San Junipero. I feel that this romantic episode was made from the song itself and is all about it. Kelly and Yorkie are brilliant and I would totally love a part 2 of San Junipero!
