Was at the NAS Cubi Point Medical Clinic December 75 to March 1977. Brought back a lot of memories. Thanks.

Oh the memories..... Had four wisdom teeth pulled and afterwards sooo much pain.. went back and of course opened mouth... Doc called for assistance.. and they ask me if I had oral sex with the girls in town... Explained as best I could.... Ended up with 120 very potent pain pills. LoL

I don't remember the paper banners in 78-79. I was Beat Charlie. Town supervisor. 7th Fleet Shore Patrol/Armed Forces Police.
@Dean-b2f11 ай бұрын
Hi Dave ! The banners would go up before a carier group pulled in. They would be up for a few days typically . . . I was "Beat Charlie" under MA1 Ravenscroft on the Starboard section (D.C. Bennett . . . I was also the SOCIAL DIRECTOR for Starboard Choir Practice. I'll have to post the Soc. Dir. T-shirt pic on facebook AFP group.).

No problem I wish I had taken more, Subic Bay was my first port visit outside of Australia, in March 1970. I was a young 16 year old Ordinary Seaman at the time. It was my first Far East Deployment, which you blokes call 'Westpac'. It was to have a profound effect upon me, and my life. I did a further 9 Far East deployments (plus a couple to the Middle East) and spent a lot of time in The PI, before, during and after the (Marcos) Martial Law era. would even fly back for my Long Leaves every year. Now I reside in Thailand. Very hard to explain Subic/Olongapo to a civvie or anyone who never experienced it. Cheers! www.gunplot.net/main/content/philippines

When did they pave the road? It was still a muddy mess in 1974.
@Dean-b2f11 ай бұрын
Actually there WAS pavement under all of the mud and loose runbble! Magasay was "paved" at least twice by 1971. It was not until '74-'75 that a World Bank funded project began that produced the current road. It was quite impressive to see it going in.

Hey Ron, that's a shame, how the bloody hell could you forget it mate. Subic was my first Liberty Port outside of Australia in early March 1970. What an introduction to Asia. I was bitten by the bug at 16 Years Old. Visiting at least once every year, well into the next decade. By 1975 I was taking my Annual Leave in the PI, and would always take the Philippino Rabbit down from Manila, busing it down to Olongapo for a few days to catch up with 'Old Mates'. (when I shot this short movie actually) BTW I remember Kittyhawk very well, Cheers, Semper Fi mate.

@@vyralproduction Yes I was in the navy for just over 20 years, I was part of work center 110 power plants when I was in fifty. I don't recognize the name, but the squadron had over 300 enlisted, and over 100 officers. Do you know what rate and rank he was?
