Actually, neither is Ukai. That's why he has to work early morning or late night shifts at Sakanoshita Shop. In Japan, the system is to assign the coaching of a sports club to a school faculty member/staff. Takeda, who is a literature teacher at Karasuno High, gets paid to coach bcos it's part of his job as a teacher there. But Ukai isn't employed/hired by Karasuno High. Some schools especially powerhouses hire coaches from outside the school (even Olympians or famous foreign players or coaches), but Karasuno High clearly doesn't have the budget (they even have to rely on donations to afford going to practice matches in Tokyo) That's why Takeda is technically the head coach and is the only one allowed to call timeouts to the referees during official matches. You can rewatch the entire series and see that every time they call for a timeout, it's Takeda who signals to the referee and never Ukai. In short, Ukai is an amazing human being who spends hours at Karasuno coaching and training the boys, plus prbly hours at home doing research and planning strategies and plays, all without getting paid a penny for it. P.S. It's hinted that Nekomata actually works for Nekoma High, altho it's not clear if he's a regular faculty member or paid exclusively to coach the volleyball team. Nekoma is a powerhouse, and judging by the fact that they have their own bodytraining gym in the school, the school is probably rich enough to afford to pay an exclusive coach.

The biggest difference between Oikawa and Atsumu without spoiler is their insecurity. Oikawa has been dealing with his insecurity his whole life since he met Kageyama while Atsumu is extremely proud of his ability, he never has any insecure about his skill or talents like Oikawa.

I would say ushiwaka also contributed to oikawa’s insecurities too, while having a big wall that he can’t overcome no matter what in ushiwaka and someone so talented like kageyama chasing after him at such pace that it seems he would overtake him at anytime, he was basically getting cornered from both ends

📍 🔨 . The payoff in the second aoba johsai match was so good because we got to see someone who isn't technically a genius like Atsumu or Kageyama shatter his limits and break his own cool and calm persona to dig deep and find the will to fight for a spot at the same table as the geniuses.

@tims3329 Жыл бұрын
@@lazysean5418 Yeah like they say in a future episode *spoiler* Atsumu's greatest strength isn't his volleyball skills, it's that he has a twin who is his equal in stubbornness and (was) willing to put in as much effort. Their rivalry to each other is what developed them as both players and as people. Osamu resolved to care about what others think, and to pay attention to them. Atsumu.. well he didn't change much, he's a volleyball junkie.
@submandave1125 Жыл бұрын
I don't know if I'd call Oikawa insecure about his skills as much as he's painfully aware of their limitations. The flashback to his conversation with his dad gave us insight to the honest self awareness and discipline Oikawa's been facing and playing with every day. He knows he isn't as naturally gifted as many others, Kageyama certainly included, but his super power is his ability to compensate for this by careful attention to what he has and polishing those to the max.

Suga: was voted as "the best dresser", Favorite Food: Super Spicy Mapo Tofu 3. Asahi: had cosplayed as Jesus, owned a pet dog 4. Tanaka: has really good hearing, favorite food: melonpan 5. Nishinoya: 3rd biggest eater in the series, according to Tanaka, the only type of movie Nishinoya will watch is over-the-top action, where he usually yells in the excitement in the middle of the film. 7. Kageyama: youngest member in karasuno, favorite Food: Pork Curry with Soft-boiled Egg 8. Yamaguchi: has taught Tsukki of jump floater some time during Season 2 9. Tsukishima: 3rd smallest apettite in the series, favorite food: shortcake 10. Ennoshita: he used to be #3 until Asahi and Nishinoya returned. 11. Kinoshita: favorite Food: Red Ginger 12. Hey Sarah, at 25:31 when asahi goes to hit the ball, he is trying to hang in the air a little bit longer like he has been practicing. As you saw it didn't go exactly how he wanted. But you can tell that this is what he is going for if you listen for the sound effect at 25:31. I'm not sure how to describe it but it sorta sounds like pulling leather? almost sounds like some sort of moving root of a tree that video games would use. I know these aren't perfect descriptions but you get that point. If you listen for this sound effect you can tell that he is going for this longer hang time hit.

Like everyone else, I love the Shimada-Yamaguchi mentor-student relationship & that giggle from Tsukishima.😊 Just adding my support & leaving my personal opinions about some of the wonky subs as usual: 6:48 「稲荷崎、今度は本家を封じた!」→ "Inarizaki just shut down Karasuno's main attack!". This should be more like "& now, Inarizaki shut down the original!". The announcer is calling Kageyama-HInata weirdo quick the "original" & saying that right after Atsumu/Osamu copied it, they went & shut it down as well. Their translation making it seem like the announcers think that K-H weirdo quick is Karasuno's "main attack" that exceeds even the ace isa bit "off" as well. 13:53 「これ、絶対白鳥沢ん時より高いじゃん!?」→ "This is definitely higher than the ones from Shiratorizawa!". While this seems to be OK, that "ones *from* Shiratorizawa" is kinda misleading. The line is more like "This is definitely higher than how it was during the game with Shiratorizawa". Suna is comparing Tsukishima's highest reaching point from the Shiratorizawa match to now, but the sub can be taken as Suna thinking that Tsukishima is higher than anyone on Shiratorizawa. 18:11 「チャンスは等しくない」→ "I don't stand a chance". Not fond of this translation. 「等しくない」is more like "not equal", so Kinoshita is just making an objective observation & saying that his personal skills are not on par with the Inarizaki guys' (thus the "chances of beating the other" is "not the same"). Their translation, however, makes it sound as if Kinoshita believes he has zero hopes of going up against them &/or even that he's given up from the start.

For what you said abt Atsumu - DEFINITELY. Like some commenters said before - Tsumu's the linda guy who wears his heart out for all to see, is jerk-ishly honest, but he doesn't lie with what he feels. If it's good he'll say it straight, and if it's bad he'll also throw it on your face. I'm sorta envious for his ability to express things (not the jerk aspect of it tho lmao), but he has the base to say what he wants (in regards to volleyball, at least) because he does the very damned best and knows he puts every bit of effort & care to his skills, so yes he expects the same of his teammates. THAT is the trait I admire most out of Tsumu and you'll be seeing more of it soon. I can't express enough of my admiration of this brat. And while some decide to say 'Osamu the better twin' Ig I'm biased towards Tsumu instead. He's a brat but he's my brat 😂

Im sorry Oikawa is still the best imo. He has the confidence to match his skills. But the thing is, he is never held back by his teammates but instead he elevated them 100% of the time and made them better. In that regard Oikawa can make any player into a Hinata, if that makes sense. Atsumu gets my second favorite but I have to give Oikawa credits because he worked diligently for his skills and in turn its not a lot of players on the court that DONT count on him popping off (whether it’s teammates or foes)

Random. But I saw Oikawa reaction and it made me passionate

And the joust does not last seconds, they last half a second at most. I love that a game can be decided just by who has better timing and better jump.

My best episodes are s2e7, s3e4, s3e10, and s4e16, 20, 23, 24. especially s4e16 is absolutely one of the Best episodes of haikyuu. Perhaps, like many other viewers, my favorite character has changed since the day I saw e16.

I dont know if it was mentioned before but whenvever you see star players on teams seemingly continuously serve over and over, just remember there are frequent cuts of points as the game progresses in Haikyu, so we don't get to see absolutely EVERYTHING that happened in the game. Every time Atsumu serves and it seems like he shouldn't, it's likely that the full rotation just wasn't on screen for us to see. Think of it like the writer wanting to keep the action of serving consistently interesting, therefore he usually opts to skip the regular servers on the team and only shows the action when Atsumu (or Oikawa or Ushiwaka or etc.) is serving. Sometimes the cuts aren't very obvious though and it is fair to get confused at times. This usually happens when the server is on a roll but they get cut off, the match then skips to when they're back to serving again to consistently showcase them more.

I saw your tiktok about properly walking in sand…do you have any TikToks or videos about winning a joust? 🏐 19:58 Yeah, inarizaki is just a taaaaaad bit cocky 20:33 23:16 it’s a recurring bit in Japan/anime, that when someone’s talking about you somewhere, you sneeze. So basically, that’s why you randomly sneeze sometimes when you aren’t sick! 25:46 lmao keep doing the pickle jinx bc they don’t miss their serve, but Karasuno has gotten the point EVERY TIME YOU DO THAT😂 28:39 Shimada is MVP, Tadashi is Best Boy 🥺🥺🥺🥺 29:27 a always sounds like AH (unless there’s an e or an I or whatever after it). So, Ah-rah-n. Aran. You got it at the end 👍🏼 31:45 lots of trust between the inarizaki coach and the team. Allows them the freedom to try new things, but firm when they need some steering 32:30 Byeeeeee see you next week!!
