25:25 this s why you need sport-specific commentary. So glad Tokyo had Martin Cross commenting.

The commentary on this race is absolutley terrible. The commentators have just witnessed the FASTEST EVER performance of a pair (still stands today), but they make little or no reference to it. They wrongly call the event the double sculls. In the next event, they mistake Australia for Austria!!! These people are below average. Anyone with an interest in rowing would have done a better job. Talk about phoning it in!! Aside from that, what a performance, in pretty choppy conditions. It may have been a big tail wind, but you need to know how to take advantage of it. They demolished the field and marched onwards towards a well deserved Olympic Gold.

who is this commentator. Ive watched many times the other videos from london and seen people's comments saying how useless he is but I ignored it mainly, but then watching this it just irks me that he calls this the double scull in the last 250m or so of the first race. Surely for the olympics they can find someone better, this guy is useless and is very sloppy with his facts. it's all very well being able to reel off Murray's erg record but then going on to get the event itself wrong? Incompetent commentary. I could do better, as could basically anyone who knows anything about the sport.

wooden handles are actually really practical

Well wooden handles are much more comfortable to use (might just be my personal opinion but I guess many people think the same) and personally I have a much better feeling of control and technique when my blade is in the water. Again, this might just be my personal impression, but I pmuch prefer wooden handles.

Its spectacular to see Bond and Hamish row, I mean theoretically look how much of the oar is underwater both are digging outrageously. Any normal rower would die out after a 100, 200 meters but they keep on going Wow no words for the amount of strength the two have

Philip Pilat "Any normal rower"? A rower would pace it so they're not completely dead after 200m and still have enough gas to race the full distance. If you're dying after 200, then that is a serious pacing issue. And there's also a fine line between burying the blade and digging so much that it actually slows you down.
