The beginning of Frodo’s ascent to GOAT status.
@juancarlosjuancarlos4629 Жыл бұрын
Alistair is triathlon GOAT, 2 Olympic gold medals, 22WTS wins out of 37 starts. At the age of 20 he was still leading here till 7th running kilometer. Already next year he won 5 out of 5 WtS races- more than Frodo in his whole career. Alistair is junior, u23 and 2x world champion. His winning rate in ITU WTS circuit is 60% Frodeno is triathlon legends, Alistair is best triathlete ever, often he was beating Frodeno for 2-3 minutes over 2h olympic distance races. Alistair changed way of racing, he is an athlete without weakness. Alistair would swim on Richard Varga feet (3:52 400k swimmer) then he would destroy everyone’s legs on the bike and than he would post run splits often 60-120s faster than Frodeno and co. Only Gomez was able to race with Alistair, everyone else was racing for 3rd place from 2009-2015. Frodeno has amazing 15 years career with Olympic gold and 3 Kona titles, but we should not forget how dominant Alistair Brownlee was

Interesting to see Raña and Gomez make the move that created the winning break. Wonder what was going through the minds of the 6 that made the break just prior to and after that move. Why raña went when he did and why the others hadn’t gone yet because clearly the other 5 still felt they had the legs.

I just happened to turn it on at the time, it must have been three or four in the morning just to see the end of it. Watching him throw that visor and just give was honestly one of the most badass things I've seen and definitely represents the Olympic spirit.

@sebastianpohl12683 жыл бұрын
He was German champion on the short distance. Those colours are white, while the others are black. Although I also think a little bit less transparent would be better ;-) Another example for the national jersey being white is Jan Ullrich in the 1997 Tour de France and 2001 Tour de France.

He did his job for Whitfield through the bike, leading the pack most of the way chasing down the breakaways. Even if he finished last it was worth celebrating.
@DTDakin00079 ай бұрын
Firstly Frodeno and Brownlee had the benefit of full careers in Olympic triathlons. Frodeno wins gold at 27 and Brownlee at 24 and 28. Whitfield did not, he was allready 25 for the first Olympic triathlon. In 2004, Whitfield miscalculated his competitors motivation to bury him in the swim, otherwise he medals, likely gold. In 2012 the crash cost him a likely Top 10 at 37. The triathlon course in London was made for Brownlee and the queen and flat as a pancake. Frodeno winning Ironman at 34, 35 and 38 is ??? Whitfield was the first, he set the bar, he did not have the same benefits as Frodeno and Brownlee who had Whitfield to motivate them. Whitfield still has my vote.

I saw that there was one triathlete who had just started lap 4 of the cycle leg while the leaders were coming in to complete lap 4 of the cycle leg, should there be a mathematical elimination of that athlete because he was so far behind or what is the rules for that.
@Moukero5 жыл бұрын
Athletes get lapped out of the race on the big leg, meaning that if the leaders are about to catch you and take over, you are out. Here he barely avoided getting lapped.

why didn't they had pure TT bikes? in road TT olympia races (brasil 18) i saw almost everybody with a TT bike :shrug:
@sophieblabla48883 жыл бұрын
Cause it’s dangerous to ride TT Bikes in large groups. Your reaction to anything will be slower and therefore accidents are way more likely. TT Bikes are just unpractical for triathlons in the elite field and won’t safe any time. At the road TT races they all start alone.
