that’s just how chen’s coach, rafael, is on the exterior. i’ve read enough books and interviews to feel that rafael is very supportive of his students and strives to make them independent individuals. coaches just have different ways of teaching (i have no problem with this as long as they’re not abusive). rafael was impressed here but i’m sure he and nathan were also thinking of what could’ve been if the short program had gone just as well. either way, it’s in the past and nathan has grown because of it. :)

Now that I know how painful it still was for Yuzu during the Olympics, I wince every time I see him land on his right foot. But you would never have known it at the time, he skated so beautifully!!

Nope. Their FD score hasn't surpassed P/C's FD score the whole season. And V/M's FD of 2018 Olympics is the only time that gained over 120 points, almost 4 points higher than that of their team event's FD score. I don't see much difference but the score is a lot higher?
