Hidilyn Diaz 🇵🇭 is the Philippines' first Olympic gold medallist! Competing in the women's 55 kg weightlifting category at Tokyo 2020, Diaz secured the nation's maiden gold medal, etching her name in Philippine sports history. Not only did she clinch victory, but Diaz also set Olympic records in the clean and jerk, lifting an impressive 127 kg, and in the total with a remarkable 224 kg. 🥇

As a Filipino, this is one of my few regrets, I was on a vacation in a resort when this happened. I really wanted to watch her performance live, but instead watched a Disney animated film because I was nervous she couldn't make it 😅 Now, I try to watch every competition live.
