Interesting, I went the other way, from Canon full frame to MFT and I am very happy. Watch out for the cost of decent lens on FF bodies. I am shocked how much they are.

Yes, the saga isn't over yet as my first experience with a FF camera hasn't been great. Thanks for watching.

I’ve got a 5d2, 40d and a EM10 mark II but I’m looking at a better low light performer for indoor sports (dancing) and I have to go FF whether it’s a mirrorless or aps-c. Since I’m in the canon echo system the best would probably be to look at a used eos R or would the E-M1 mark II be good enough for indoor shooting? The low light scores on Dxomark is 1300 for the Oly and 2700 for the eos R… 🤔 Even my old 5d2 got 1800 and i haven’t even tried it since I’ve read that it lacks low light performance with indoor sports 🤷🏽 Chris Baitson here on KZbin loves his E-M1 mark II but I think he’s only shooting landscape and street.

I bought the Sony A7R111 and 2 primes for portrait work. I was shocked at the extremely poor quality of the EVF and the rear screen image quality compared even to the EM1. But that 42mp sensor is sublime delivering images that really are gorgeous. For my travels I love the form factor of Olympus, and even today the 16mp sensor still works. On a recent trip to Cambodia, I carried the EM5mk2 and a selection of primes and the EM1 with the 40-150 Pro for street portrait and I am still stunned at the quality of the images. That said I did lug along my Sony to take pictures of my girlfriend. I also have the EM1mk2 which I use at home where there is more landscape shots. I am more than happy. Remember that gear is probably the last component to the formula. Composition, capture, the experience. Pretty much any modern camera these days is capable of delivering an excellent image in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing. I admit I shoot solely in RAW and post process my images.

Yeah, considering the A9 which I've just bought has a 3.7 million dot evf, I find my old e-m1.1 evf to be better. Even Fuji's x-h1, another 3.7 million dot evf is far superior to the Sony's. It's useful to have a sunny weather setting though on the LCD.

I think Chris you only live once, you should at least try it. I have an M1 mk1, was thinking about changing but the shutter count has only hit 45000, I have an M10 mk 1 + grip + with the 9-18mm and just take that out. Nowadays I only print to flickr so even 16MP just gives me huge cropping options. The ND and grad virtual filters would be handy...

It’s been a while since I filmed this, I’m currently trying out full frame (Canon R8). I still have my EM1.1. Thanks for the comment.

The search for the perfect camera continues.... well it never ends if we're being honest 😃

Nope, and it still hasn't ended for me after recent experiences with the chosen FF camera. I'm hoping it's going to be confirmed as faulty else I'm really going to be scratching my head. More to follow in the search....😂

Yes, full frame win,s in low light action shot,s but at what cost? Plus drainpipe mega expensive back breaking glass. Horses for courses, MFT lighter, cheaper, more portable. For landscape you can select a 50mp Hi-res shot, granted on a tripod, but don,t "serious" pro,s all use tripod,s?

Maybe a two prong approach is needed, a lighter versatile m43 system and then perhaps a GFX for when more subject separation, dynamic range and/or more resolution is needed to compliment each other....Whilst you can do high Res shots on m43 I don't think you can achieve as easily the same dynamic range, low noise and that DOF look as you can with FF/MF.
