So here it is eight years after you posted this video and I just ordered the Stylus 1. I believe the camera has at least as much value to day as it did in 2013 and I'm looking forward to shooting with this little guy. Thanks for the look at the camera as it will help me set mine up.

As a one who hasn't used anything but a point & shoot or iPhone for decades your Preview and the later video Tips and Tricks has just been a fabulous help!!! Thank you for the time and effort you put into your videos. As an engineer I learned that all designs are compromises and your review has put me at ease that, for me I found the near perfect compromise of size and features. Your tutorial ought to be watched by all new owners! Thanks again and please keep up the good work (and ignore the know-it-alls because the rest of us sure appreciate you!)

Nicely done. Most reviewers don't go in-depth into how the menus work, and that is one area you have excelled. I've always been a fan of Olympus cameras; I only wish they were not so expensive. This one could be my do-everything camera, but for $700, I would seriously have to consider a dSLR instead. Maybe a Pentax K3 body to replace my old K100D.

"I've only had the camera a few hours." Yet Ralf has two 30 minute reviews in two different languages. What a pro.

Awesome video Ralf - thanks very much. I was pretty much set on buying the FZ200 mainly due to the awesome lens but deep down I wanted wanted a smaller camera with a bigger sensor and better LCD. All the others in this bracket that I looked at (G16, XZ2, RX100, LX7) had zoom less than 6x and I did want something a bit more and the Stylus 1 is ideal. You summarized this perfectly towards the end - 300mm is more than enough! indeed it is. Thanks once again and I really appreciate the detailed review.

I'm considering this and rx100 ii. I think for me it comes down to video. How is the quality of video from the Stylus 1?

HI, i'v to buy a camera because of a trip that i'll do on august in thailand. i've alway tought reflex is the best camera (because my mummy alway told this) but with my budget i only can have a canon eos 100d with 18-55. I saw this camera and i'm very interested even because i would have less wight on my nick; do you think I can have good picture even if in not full of light? any way I would use is in automathic mode. thank you.

Does the screen tilt 180 degrees? How are the chromatic aberrations on that lens? How is the low light performance? How is the video?

Hi Ralf, I was very impressed with this review. Could you please tell me if you have done a review of the Canon G1X Mark 2. Thank you.

Ralfs Foto-Bude Thanks Ralf. I have recently bought a G1X Mark 2. It seems to be a good camera. It has 1.5" sensor, it will shoot in RAW, Lens is f2.0 to 3.9. Zoom is only 5x (but probably can't expect more, or the body would have to be quite a bit bigger). Hope you get a chance to review one day. Thanks and best wishes, Ray (Lynch)

Thanks for another great review Ralf. Looks just like OMD-5 :) Nice fast lens F2.8 and very nice range 28-200 - hard to fault the Stylus 1 except for the small sensor and size - it is a bit bulky especially with that viewfinder hump. I do have the Fuji X20 and really like it - I kind a think that I would sacrifice the ELVF for a Analog one if it makes the camera smaller - the Fuji X20 lens comes out a bit more which is not as nice and pocket-able but it is also faster at F2.0-F2.8 but range not as good - I don't mind the size on the Stylus except for the large ELVF hump - I like the auto-lens-cap, that is a nice feature and amazing how short the lens is when Off - So I would have preferred to have a smaller viewfinder and if it meant an analog one then that would have been OK - the analog viewfinder in the Fuji X20 is adequate for very sunny days etc. but for this size camera one mostly uses LCD. I think if Fuji comes out with the X30 with a 1 inch sensor and tilt-lcd and an improved analog viewfinder and touch LCD then I would go with the X30 - but the Panasonic GM1 has the largest sensor and is even smaller then the Sylus1 and X20/30 but then there is no viewfinder at all - So hard to win :) - GM1 has largest sensor and nicest menu system and options but no viewfinder. Stylus1 has a great viewfinder and great zoom range and fast lens but smallest sensor - Fuji X20 has the least amount of features and no touch LCD - I wonder if it is worth getting Stylus1 as my OMD-5 just does not look so much larger - but the 200mm zoom is nice - but sensor just so small.

Your're absolutly right, except for the Zoomrange: 28 - 300 Millimeter. And as I said: f2.8 over the full focal-length .... I posted the first pictures of the Stylus 1 in flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/ralfs-foto-bude/sets/72157638794720004/ I think the Picturequality is very good, even in High-ISO.

You got me sold Ralf :) I just ordered the Stylus 1 - I enjoy my Sony RX100 as it is so small - but I find that my Fuji X20 does better in low light zoomed as the RX100 is very quick in F4.9 vs the Fuji X20 at F2.0-F2.8 - both nice cameras but I think the Stylus will bridge the cap and that 300mm F2.8 zoom will be nice - Is the sensor of the Stylus 1 the same size as of the Fuji X20 ? as understand that it is larger than most compacts but not 1 inch like the RX100/m2 - I understand that the sensor in the Stylus 1 is back lit like the RX100m2 and HX50V so I would assume that it is a Sony sensor - which is fine as Sony makes great sensor - also if I understand it right - is not the sensor without the AA filter? I wish I understood enough in German to enjoy fully your video with both of you guys - look forward to some in English also with both of you :)
