One of the best instructional videos I have seen.....easy to understand without the "jargon" that us mere mortals can get confused and disinterested with. I will be opting for the TG 5, simply because it is an upgrade of the TG 4, but I basically am sold by the ruggedness of the camera......I dropped a more expensive compact with all the bells and whistles, and now it collects dust in the bottom drawer...the price quoted to fix it was outrageous.....so next on the list is the Tough TG 5. Once again, thanks for a great review. Cheers.

you can't pick a much faster appiture as this is the size of the hole the light comes through to the lens. smaller hole less depth of field, larger hole more depth, odley a larger number appiture is a smaller hole and will result in a slower shutter speed. however your video is still very informative and helped me set up slowmo on my TG 2 which is still a great camera and surprisingly similar to the TG4

Hi, I've been watching your tutorials and I've been practicing in preparation for a trip to Zion NP. I know the star trail SCN option, but I cannot find tutorials on Milky way photography (would that the same setting as night scene or hand held starlight)? or on taking those silky waterfall pictures. I know the ISO needs to be greatly reduced and the aperture higher but I cannot find which setting on the camera allows you to adjust both of those settings to capture a picture without the white balance blinding out the photo?
@DigitalGojaUSA7 жыл бұрын
Definitely work with iso less than 1600, and it's going to take some trial and error, start with the most stopped down aperture you want for depth of field and make sure you do a manual WB preset.

Very nice instruction video. Thanks. You explain nice and slow. I just bought me a TG5 so I hope you will make a video for that one also :) My first impression of the TG5 is that there are too much scrolling to do settings. Also, I seem to get in to loops instead of going in and out of different menus. Only had the camera a few days so I hope it will get better. I love macro photography so I am looking forward to experimenting on that feature. I don't know if I dare taking the camera with me under water..

Question. Firstly, Thank you for a fantastic overview of this camera. I am a premium charging dog walker in the UK. I take lots of pictures during a walk. My question is this. I use Sports mode mostly which is great for capturing movement when dogs are running around but I get reflection off white or light colour dogs in sunshine and similar issues when photographing dark dogs in shadows. What settings do you suggest I should adjust for custom 1 to use with light coloured dogs in bright conditions and which settings do you suggest I should use for custom 2 when photographing dark coloured dogs in shadows or dark environments. Thank you sooooo much in advance.

Hi Tim! Make sure you have the time lapse option activated as shown in the video (33:39) so the camera can merge the pictures into a video. If all the images are separated you will need to edit them post production to make your time lapse movie.

I loved your video. I had a Fugi FinePix 70, but it just froze and then burnt on vacation. Need a new underwater camera now. Someone recommended the TG4, I wish that it could take stills while videoing like the Fugi did. How about the TG tracker? What do you think of that? My main reason is underwater pics and videos. I have a Nikon D5200 that I use for regular use. What is your opinion on the best underwater camera?

Unfortunately, the TG4 and TG tracker are amazing cameras for videos but their photos are not up to the level of the video quality they provide, however, if you plan to shoot more videos then the TG tracker is the best choice.

Specific question for ya! I take a lot of self timer selfies from a tripod at a distance, but always struggle with the camera setting the focus and exposure when I push the shutter button and not when I've actually posed for the photo! Is there any way to force the camera to focus at the end of the timer and not at the start of the timer without using the smartphone app?
@DigitalGojaUSA7 жыл бұрын
Try using "AF Lock" or "Area AF: of the spot where you will be located in the photo. This way the camera will always be in focus at that spot.
@OstriChicken7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion! The problem is that I'm usually taking selfies in the moment with fish I catch... and holding in the water... so I'm reaching forwards and pressing the shutter button as quickly as I can. I wish I could find a comparable camera with a flip screen that set the focus/exposure at the end of the timer. Is there one you know of?

Hello, DrDennis77. After reviewing the manual, I don't see any option for a slideshow. If your TV accepts a USB drive I would recommend transferring the images to that and plugging it directly to the TV. Most current TVs have the capability of toggling through each image like a slideshow. Thanks for watching!

Excellent video, organized, informative and you have a great voice...you should do audio books or voice overs as a pro...you got the talent. Back to the camera, you may want to check the facts in one area, Interval shooting or time lapse. At 33:18 in the video, the default for number of total photos is 99. If you arrow up on that field, the next number is 1, then 2, etc...so the range of total photos you can choose is 1 - 99 and not 299 which is what it sounded like in the video to me when I heard it and "isegrim1978" above thought the same thing.
