Wow that was dense, but very informative. Nice illustration of the MM cable types!

Nice video. Explained that OM3 is for 10G applications, but didn't mention that you can still run 1G through it, as with the OM5... I know there was mention of future proofing, implying that you can run lower speeds today on the higher OM# cable, and increase the speed with a compatible transceiver in the future, but not sure it was clear enough for some. Thanks for the video.

Please do one on the connector colors. For instance blue connectors are usually single move fiber connections while tan and aqua connectors are usually multimode. This comes in handy when dealing with armored cables which often have no information on them.

The specs for OM3, OM4, and OM5 all seem the same yet they have big differences in the amount of GIG they can handle. Why?

Great video! It seems that OM2 cables do support 10 gig up to 82 meters, based on what I have read. Is this true? Thanks!

Please explain how what level of cables are needed for Fibre Channel SANs at 8Gb, 16Gb, and 32Gb speeds.
@Cablesandkits6 жыл бұрын
It is best for us to defer you to the SAN/switch vendor to ensure the solution is supported by your vendor. For SAN configurations, it's imperative to use vendor tested and approved cabling, switches, HDDs, cables, etc.. in order to receive vendor support. That would be the most important thing to keep in mind when dealing with anything revolving around a SAN setup, including the cabling used for the specific setup.

We can splice om3 pigtail with om1cable.?
@Cablesandkits6 жыл бұрын
No, we do not suggest it. To maintain the integrity of your connection you always want to mate "like modes" of fiber together. There is probably an easy solution to your issue. Please give us a call 888-622-0223! We would be happy to help.

Can i use om3 with a 1gig transceiver?
@Cablesandkits6 жыл бұрын
Yes, OM3, even though it is capable of supporting up to 10G, does allow for 1 gig traffic with no disadvantage or issue whatsoever.

All OM1 thru OM5 are multimode, SM2 is single mode (OS1 no longer recognized)
@TheEmpowerment12 жыл бұрын
You need correcting. You stated that OM in OM1-OM2-OM3-OM4-OM5 stands for " Optical Mode" but this is in fact not the case. OM stands for "Optical Multimode" whereas OS in OS1-OS2-OS3-OS4-OS5 Stands for "Optical Singlemode".
