Omaha Stockyards, c. 1953

At one time the second largest stockyards in the country, the Omaha Stockyards are featured in this excerpt of the film "The New Pioneers," from around 1953.

I remember riding with my Dad to Omaha with a load of cattle in his old Ford truck. After Omaha closed, we went to Burwell where they had a large sale barn.

This is so interesting to watch such a movie with were recording 70 years ago!

It's mostly gone now. I live about two miles north of there. We still have signs reading "Report manure spills" and "Report odor". With a city 444 number.
