Just a thought. Growth. We grow so fast and when we eventually get old, we awfully miss our youth. It is like nostalgia. It feels good to think about the good memories we had as a kid, but it also hurts to know that we’re growing. It’s two separate entities: being a kid and being an adult. Two separate worlds. We’re growing apart. It could also be about loss. The kid might represent his brother that passed away when he was young. That scene where the lady (possibly the mom) kisses Omar and then looks at the kid may be about her passing too. One day she’s there with him and the other day she’s with his brother. Though this might be stretching it. It could also be about his behaviors as kid and as an adult. We see that when he’s older he’s more reckless. He has so much on his plate:love, happiness, etc. When you’re a kid, you just enjoy things and have fun. We see that his mom kisses him he’s either sad, it feels awkward or it doesn’t feel as how it used to be. When the mom turns back to his “younger self” , they’re both smiling. They’re making memories, smiling and feeling loved. When you grow older, the more you become apart.
