Omar really carried that clock with him for however many blocks just he could run that _'it ran out of time'_ line on Prop Joe. That's hysterical. Prop Joe is great too - 'A proposition might fall kindly on your ears.' Gangsters, thieves and hustlers - the masters of metaphor, double entendres and witty retorts. You gotta love it. This is just one of the reasons why the Wire is so damn good. There's just so many great scenes. At this point I can pretty much recite the lines along with the actors.

✊🏾👍🏾 THAT WAS A GREAT LINE ABOUT THE CLOCK !!!
@JohnSmith-mk1rj2 жыл бұрын
@@bobwatson1162 I'm pretty sure Omar had the most iconic lines in the show, but really, every character had some amazing, classic lines. Avon had, 'I'm just a gangster, I suppose...and I want my corners.' Brother Mouzzone would goof on Omar being gay when Omar said, 'We go in thru the front,' and Mouzzone said 'That should be a new experience for you,' cuz Omar was a 'backdoor man.' That shit had me dying. Cheese actually got me with, 'You know who got the best pussy?' MIDGETS, nigga.' Fucking Cheese, yo. That was probably Method Man making jokes when asked to adlib, or something. Meth a funny dude. There's just so many characters with an endless supply of great lines. From 'My Name IS My Name,' to 'Money ain't got no owners, only spenders,' to 'Why ain't in your repertoire no more,' I mean for real - there's just SO MANY great lines in the Wire. So many unforgettable characters that lived in shades of grey. Like real people. No cowboy cops, no evil gangsters, just people tryin' to live the only way they knew how. The game is the game. That's why the Wire remains so popular over time, and why it will be remembered ahead of the Sopranos or Dexter or Game of Thrones or whatever. New people keep discovering it, and old heads never stopped watching it. The Wire is becoming a timeless classic. It's so sad that a few of the actors are gone now. Otherwise I bet anything we would've gotten a movie for the Wire. There's no way that doesn't get made when there's still so much interest in the show. That would be like leaving money on the table. Millions would tune into that if the original actors would've reprised their roles. We could find out what becomes of Mike and the new Co-Op - how does Slim Charles handle finally being top dog? Man, that would've been dope as fuck. EDIT: But I'm happy with the Wire as is. Which is more than I can say for a lot of shows.

I think the concept of this scene is deeper than I even thought, which is another reason why this show is incredible. Omar separates ‘business from personal’ in a way that is genius and obeys all manners of the game. He asked for a ticket because he expected to have his clock properly fixed, and it was when he picked it up later on. Omar, Thomas Shelby and Tony Soprano are my top 3, in no order. Many honorary mentions, which I will not bore anyone with.

@FreePlayMode3 жыл бұрын
One thing that a lot of people miss on this, is the respect to the rules of the game. To anyone watching from the outside, Omar looks like a normal customer that came in with a busted clock. Omar respected Joe's front by having him write up a legitimate ticket for his broken clock, so if the police do come knocking and ask why Omar came to see him, Prop Joe can go "He's just a customer" and provide the copy of the ticket, and proof that something (a clock) was dropped off for repair. It gives each of them a legitimate alibi, and a perfectly normal reason why they would know each other as a business owner and customer.
@md.shihabsharar87533 жыл бұрын
Lmao no, he took the ticket so he can show it to Marlo IN CASE Joe doesent go along with him. It’s an indirect threat.

@@user-vk9kx5nh3j exactly. In the scene where he comes back to sell the coke back to Prop Joe, he pulls out the ticket to get his clock back. Sure enough Joe gives him the clock back in working order, and Omar pays Joe for his work, even though he just sold him his own coke shipment back to him for 400k. It's the respect for the game on all levels.
@benriffle1042 жыл бұрын
Omar is trolling Prop. Omar is going to screw Prop over for a ton of money and then make him fix this shitty old clock. He'll even pay for it and throw Prop a few bucks. He's mocking him, rubbing salt in the wound after screwing him over.
@FreePlayMode2 жыл бұрын
@@benriffle104 That's not how Omar sees it. Omar isn't a "troll". He doesn't do things for effect. Everything he does, has meaning behind it. He's a very calculated person. If it were just for effect, he would have not even asked about the clock, much less kept the ticket and paid for services rendered. Even when he sticks up Old Face Andre's bodega, he could have easily stolen the cigs, but not only did he pay for them, he wanted his change back because he viewed that as a legitimate business transaction. He's a man that lives by a code. Part of that code is, you don't do more than what is necessary. Another part is, is that you respect the rules of the game. His way of respecting the rules of the game in those instances, is treating the front like a legitimate business, because even the small things matter in the game because you never know who is watching, or listening.

Season 1 Prop Joe to Omar - "You rob me i'll kill you" Season 4 Prop Joe to Omar - "See we coming at this all wrong. You the one with the high card"

i think he even went further, "I'll kill your whole family" then walks off. However, he was arranging a meet between String and Omar while pretending he'd never met Omar, so he had to look like he was a hardass IIRC.

"New Day Coop" "Yo, was there like a bar between the Coop?" "Yeah" "Co-op" Omar then finishes the rest of the conversation and refers to them as chickens with their eggs in 1 basket, like a coop

The size of the desert eagle when Omar pulls it out always makes me laugh 😂😂 gun is huge! 😂 Love the very end here as well when Omar says “after I teach joe a thing or two about being devious”

Yes it can be that but that's not what they talking bout. He's telling Omar what the hotel sign says & its says New Day Co-op but he tells Omar New Day Coop & Omar says what's a coop before understanding dude mispronounced it.

@@dresosa9966 Speaks to Omar's intelligence that he knows what a co-op is and he correctly surmises that all these drug princes are dropping their coins into one big bag for them to snatch.

What elevates Omar above the common criminal is that he bothers to bring props so he can make a pun when he sticks you up.
