O Aba al-Waleed, if Muhammad were to say what he claims, then we should distance ourselves from him as Warka bin Nawfal and Zaid bin Amr bin Nafil did before. The matter would become easy and his status would diminish. But he alleges that he is a prophet and messenger from Allah, commanded to deliver the message. Whoever obeys him will be saved, and whoever opposes him will perish. Those who enter his obedience depart from ours. No oaths or treaties will nullify our gods until he nullifies our obedience. If his followers increase while ours decrease, we’ll be left powerless, with no influence, authority, or judgment.
