Honestly i can understand how Jimmy uses it as an element of context. But he could have ask other questions about his career like his role in "intouchable" which is probably still the best grossing foreign film in the world to this day. Funny fact it was remade a few years ago for US audiences with "the Upside" where his character was interpreted by Kevin Hart. The original is way better. He also had supporting roles in the x-men franchise and Jurassic World.

Americans don’t know this but this man is filthy rich. It’s true that his new show Lupin is doing great in the US but he has been rich for over a decade. Omar Sy doesn’t need the us market to stay wealthy. Jimmy talks to him as if he just made it because he moved to America. He bought a 7 million dollar house in LA before Lupin. That goes to show how good of a career he has had in Europe and mainly in french cinema. One of my favourite actors of all time. I’ve seen most of his work. I understand and speak french and to appreciate his acting work it is necessary you understand what he is saying.

This dude is talented, funny, with a joyful personality, but above all he’s a VERY HUMBLE man. I had the chance to meet him at the mosque I used to go to in Los Angeles around 2013-2014, and he’s just so down to earth. After the prayer, He hung out with us and engaged in small talk for like 30 min, talking about basket ball, telling jokes and even being made fun of. Of course only few people knew he was famous and filthy rich, but I was nonetheless impressed by his genuineness and humility. And to top it off, it wasn’t a one time thing too. Since that time I gained respect for him.

I guess maybe Mr Jimmy Kimmel was trying to make him more relatable for the American audience (speculation) but this was a very shallow interview and just left me wondering why there weren't more of the types of questions he asks his other guests. Omar Sy is captivating and it would be cool to have been given more challenging and/ or personal questions, not like (how it came across to me), "Hey. You're in America now, right? So what American things do you know? Let's qualify you."

I was disappointed by Kimmel on this one.. he interviews the best French actor for his new show that’s successful globally and in the us and the whole interview is about American shows it might be associated with when in fact it’s completely different... America is not the center of the world !

Jimmy: America America America Me: when he is going to talk about omar 🤨
@chriss4357
@chriss4357 3 жыл бұрын
Part of the talk has to be about America because we really have no French shows broadcast over here, but now we can have shows streamed and everybody can find out more what's showing from everywhere. So that market hasn't developed yet and this is just a step into this new broadcasting world that the world's going in more. In America, we would usually just get to see a lot of UK shows here through PBS throughout the 20th century and beginning 21st.
