I once saw Omar sing this live in my classroom back when I was in primary school. I was taught by his mum when I was 6 years old. Hearing this again takes me back to them good old days when I didn't have a care in the world.

This song is a time machine that transports my mind to days of youth as a 19 year old soldier. The melody reminds me of lying beside my beautiful German lover. The smell of her hair, touch of her skin, the passion in her eyes. When we met we were on borrowed time, as I was going back stateside in 6 months. When I was introduced to her I told her ”don't fall in love with me.” We both laughed, but the last day I saw her there were tears. She was about 4 or 5 years older than me, and had been in a few more relationships than I had. This was my first ”grown woman" not a girl but a woman. The sad thing is she thought I was joking about leaving. In her mind, I was planning a way to get away from her if things didn't work out. She was wrong, it tore me to leave her. I told her not to fall in love, but I should have taken my own advice.

I must’ve been 16/17 when this first came out either in ‘90 or ‘91 and fell in love with the song immediately. No words could describe the UK club vibes and the street scene at the time it was infectious! Omar was partly responsible for defining that era with his music. Criminally underrated. It's pretty much the perfect love song. It's a perfect chillout song. My only criticisms are, it's impossible to sing and do it justice and there isn't a twenty minute 'jam session' version, preferably with a jazz band, where every instrument gets to butter this.
