I always wanted a fully articulated screen... until I got one. Now I see it really is only better if you are filming yourself and a tilt screen is best the other 99% of the time. This camera is rather intriguing otherwise. I am still waiting for the probably never coming D500 mirrorlesss version (no the Z50 is not it). If I were to jump to the Z system now, the Z8 seems the most tempting.

@HR-wd6cw5 ай бұрын
As you mentioned, having the Zf, I like the articulating screen on that camera, but prefer the two-way tilt screen on the Z8 (which I have) as it's a step up from the one found on the Z6/Z7 II cameras, so that's a bonus. As for the flippy screen on the Z6 III, it probably wouldn't bother me, since I Don't shoot video and I don't do "selfie" mode even on my Zf (ever) so for me, it wouldn't matter, but for those who like to shoot at a low angle in horizontal mode (which I do sometimes) it might become a problem because it means you have to use a wider stance Iguess to grip the lens (you have to reach around the screen or hold the camera underneath the screen which may be an awkward position either way. as to the stacked sensor I think they could have done a fully stacked sensor design, and I know it was probably about cost reasons, but it would still have differentiated enough from the Z8/Z9 just by resolution that I think another $100 would have been OK too to be honest. But at the same time, I think some are seeing the "partially" stacked sensor as a cop out for a better design ,even if means a bit more cost, and some feel it's not as big of a deal as people hype it to be. I mean Nikon is claiming the Z6 III is 20% faster than the Z6 II. So that really puts the Zf probably about 10% faster than the Z6 II (maybe 15% in terms of AF) but really maybe marginally slower than the Z6 III at least in terms of AF, as I think the partially stacked sensor mainly will help with AF during video mostly, although it might help during stills photography, but from the demos I saw, it didn't look much different than what the Zf could do in many of the subject-tracking tasks, except maybe birds, where the Z6 III may excel slightly due to the faster sensor since birds are a bit more unpredictable and perhaps the camera is able to keep up with their tiny movements better than a Zf would with the slower sensor. That being said, if you just want a travel camera, the Z6 II is still a good bargain, and if you want something slightly better the Zf is a good option. I'd say the Z6 III but only if you need the video features and/or pre-release. Otherwise I think it is mostly comparable to the Zf in other aspects. I do agree on your comment about the Z7 series and landscapes, and actually I think that would be better overall IQ (probably not by much, other than more detail) but also from a noise aspect as it may related to the partially stacked sensor (the Z8's high ISO noise is a bit worse than he Z7 II and I suspect part of that is the stacked sensor -- while much faster -- one side effect is more noise at higher ISOs). Nikon may have tweaked this a bit in the Z6 III as it will relate to the Z8 and Z7 series, but my guess is there may still be a small noise penalty regardless when compared to the non-stacked BSI sensors.

If you are shooting photography likely the only tangible improvements over the Z6ii will be the better AF, the readout speed if you have fast moving action and the resolution of the Z8. Picture quality has been excellent for years, most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a D600 and a current flagship mirrorless once a photo is finished. which is why everyone is competing on AF & video features nowadays.

Will be interesting to see a comparison between this new one and Zf. At this price point, it was kinda expected that it won't be able to match or better Z8 or Z9. I am one of those species who has recently woke up from a deep slumber and wanted to buy a new full frame Nikon Z series mirrorless camera for my upcoming Peru trip early next month and although I'd have loved to buy the Z6 III, I had to settle for the Zf as I won't get the new one anytime soon. Yet to receive the Zf, it arrives tomorrow (along with the Z 24-120mm f/4 S line lens). Once I have it, will go through all your Zf videos that I've already bookmarked. 🙂

Oh...you're going to be just fine with that Zf and may not even look any further. I've used it on portrait sessions and events...the speed, colors, and overall image quality are incredible. I'd say if you can pick up a tiny 28mm or even a used plastic 24-50mm kit lens, you might even have more fun.

The new Z6 III is a big step up from the previous model and has an impressive spec sheet, but it just doesn’t look appealing to me. I like the hybrid nature of the Z6 III. It still has the same body and after owning the Z8, I don’t want to go back to less. I actually still own and use the original Z6 and Z5 for when I want a smaller file and I don’t shoot fast moving subjects so they honestly work perfectly fine for me. Lastly, I would only look at this camera for the improved autofocus over the Z6 & Z5 but the $2500 price tag is too much for what I need it for. I’ll wait for a sale or possibly the Z5 II 🤷🏽. Nice video as always.

I primarily shoot Fuji (X-T5 as everyday camera), but still have my old Nikon gear (D750 and lenses). Was waiting for the Z6iii specs as a potential upgrade, but the flip-out screen killed it for me. 2:59 "If you're a photographer, you pretty much like to quickly flip up to shoot like this" Seriously, am I the only photographer who occasionally wants to shoot in portrait orientation from a low angle??!! I remember being on an organised photography trip to Iceland about 12 years ago. When we introduced ourselves we also mentioned the brand we shot with, and there was a girl who said "I got the Canon 60D because the flip screen makes it easy to shoot from low angles". I had a fixed screen DSLR at the time, and I thought to myself, "yeah, wish my camera had that". Now, I will say that how much I like this mechanism sort of depends on how reliable SnapBridge is. The reason being, I have a Foolography Unleashed N2 permanently plugged into my D750. And, I have an L-bracket that sits around said dongle to protect it from bumps. I don't like this setup because it makes the camera bigger and heavier, but I want geotagging and remote control. So, if SnapBridge can do that reliably, then Nikon I love you. If not, then Nikon, why??!! On another note, I still think it's possible to engineer a solution where the action of flipping the screen in either the horizontal or vertical direction, locks it in place in the other direction, without any further need for a complicated mechanism. I want to draw this, design this, think about this. But, I don't work for a camera company.

Nikon fills a market segment where previous models were not competitive against the competition. But is it too late? In recent years, many photographers and photo enthusiasts have chosen to abandon the brand in favor of Sony, Canon, and Fuji. It's evident that since the production of mirrorless cameras began, Nikon has fallen behind. The new Nikon Z6 III seems to be an excellent camera on paper. Personally, I've always used Nikon, with their extraordinary DSLRs. I've also worked with the Nikon Z6 II professionally, but I found it unreliable for eye detection autofocus, etc. Consequently, I switched to Sony and, staying in the same segment, I find the Sony 7 IV exceptional. Moreover, Sony's lens lineup is very extensive. Despite Nikon's high-quality build, viewfinder, and display, I won't go back. I think too much importance is given to technology. Personally, what I look for in a professional camera is reliable autofocus, quality, and feel. With Sony, for years, I've been able to get what I had with Nikon DSLRs. I still hope that Nikon achieves the success it deserves with this new camera, but I think the competition is very fierce and that it's difficult for those who have switched to other brands to decide to go back, especially for economic reasons

What I struggle with and I've said this on a few other KZbin channels as well and without repeating myself 24 megapixels was cool in 2014 yes in 2014 people were buying the DSLR D7200 and that camera had 24 megapixels. I just don't think it's enough in this day and age. It doesn't give you any cropping ability. I also hate flip out screens for Photography. It's basically a video camera. I know it sounds crazy but why don't they make two models of the exact same camera one with the flip screen and one with a flip out? Sorry I'm getting my words mixed up now too. I'm just flipped... But jokes aside I think two different models with different screens would be the go. The problem is for many people it's budget I think $2500. American is way too expensive for this camera in Australia. It will be over $4400. I can get a used Z8 for $5000 in Australia now so that's where I would invest that kind of money. I would find the other 600 bucks and get a Z8. That's the problem with technology now that the older camera that's bought out first might have better specs and you might be better off with that camera.

It's kinda hard to see where it will fit.... unless they go to like 61 mp or something.

It’s a shame you didn’t get a camera to play with from Nikon, they apparently provided them to anyone with a KZbin channel. None of them produced a review nearly as helpful as this one, not to mention as fun! Thanks! Btw: where does this ridiculous price come from? And why are people accepting it?
@saurabhdeshpande65785 ай бұрын
What will be the expected price?
@JasonLorette5 ай бұрын
$2499 US
@CC3GROUNDZERO5 ай бұрын
3000€ in Europe, which converts to ~3200 USD. Let that sink in. Nikon charges Europeans about 30% more. ONLY Nikon does that, no other manufacturer selectively overcharges like that.
@JasonLorette5 ай бұрын
@@CC3GROUNDZERO Uugh...didn't know that, it'll be $3400 CDN after conversion, $3900 after taxes. oof.

Honestly I think they are getting this more toward videographers instead of photographers. Between the flippy screen and the intense focus on the video aspect…
@cottonbomb82725 ай бұрын
dude Z63 is not the Z6 we all know anymore, it becomes a assistant kinda like for Z8 and Z9 when u need 2-3 camera set for events video. All I want from a Z63 is same body and weight, E7 chip, fast AF, 33mp sensor. Thats all I want but no, they invested heavily on Video and I dont need ANYTHING from that. Now Im pretty desperate, as I know the Z73 gonna have too much MP and cost way too much and Z52 gonna have at most 24.5 MP sensor. Dunno what to do now, guess Ill keep using my old Z6 till Z6IV...

I don't get nikon going for the illogical selfie screen trend, vloggers aren't such a huge portion of the consumer base to justify it, I just hope the next z7 stays the same
