@@kulwantrandhawa3766 sorry m8 no. Was actually there to look at their studio, as it was a career I wanted to get into. Never happened 😔 they were re-hearsing tracks off the Architecture & Morality album. If I remember rightly. They had a cheque in a frame on the wall. Think it was their very first cheque they received. Tbh, everything Andy was telling me, went in one ear and out the other. I was that overawed. I still have the envelope and letter he originally sent me.

Omd are a very underrated band, one of the best of the synth era and more so, there’s so much quality and work ethic in their music and tours, I’ve seen them many times but once as support to a-ha at Blackpool football ground, and although a-ha were as brilliant as ever OMD got the fans jumping ans singing and won many converts
@mop7145 ай бұрын
If you go to the concerts, they are sell outs. They don`t need to work now but enjoy for the sake of music. They are one of the most rated New Wave Electronic bands. The North were turning out bands like Soft Cell, Human League, ABC, Heaven 17 etc.
@christopherdavies30795 ай бұрын
I experienced the same when I saw them support A-ha at Kent cricket ground Andy McClusky bounced on stage and apologised for playing nothing bit hits for the next hour ! One forgets how many songs we all know of theirs .

That was one heck of a rendition of "Don't Go". Andy really put himself into the vocals, and I think they also tweaked the arrangement a bit. And Stuart's percussion always adds something to the live performance over the album.

I'm surprised I like this album more than Punishment of Luxury, which I really liked a lot. This album is in my top 5 OMD albums. It's a shame it probably won't get as much recognition in terms of radio play. Slow Train shouldn't be a single release though. There are so many other songs on the album that would have far more mass appeal than that song. Although, I think the song fits on the album because albums do need a couple of songs that are different to help make the album more interesting vs. having the same sounding songs all the way through. If anyone hasn't seen OMD in concert, they are missing out. I've seen them 4 times and they never fail to put on a great live show.
@kulwantrandhawa376610 ай бұрын
Ermmm....SLOW TRAIN is a FANTASTIC Single. Easily the most up-tempo/ in ur face song on the album! As ANDY says it was written to PEE OFF the Purists who THINK they know what the OMD sound is!! The WHOLE POINT of the ORCH MEN is to go AGAINST ur EXPECTATIONS!! I LOVE GROOOVIN' to it....PURE SYNTH POP with that SAILING ON THE 7 SEAS Vibe!!👍👍😍😍🤩🤩😎😎

Great new songs! I saw them a couple of years ago in my hometown in the Netherlands where OMD used to have several number one hits. It's the sound of this era that got me into making electronic music, otherwise I would have become a pianist, not bad, but soundwise less versatile.

Listened to the new album a few times on the PC past week.... but got headphones on last night and reckon Paul's created a sonic masterpiece here. A&M aside, there was always at least one song on every OMD album I didn't get. But don't think that applies to BS. Great stuff. Only downer is.... where is the new OMD to take over?

I never really considered myself a big fan over the years. I had a greatest hits CD and would barely ever pull it off the shelf. Then I saw them live in 2022 and was blown away by how good they were live. I go to about 12-15 concerts a year, mostly bands from the 80s that are still touring, and that OMD show was easily one of the best I've been to in the last 5 years. I'm looking forward to seeing them again if they come back to my area.

I've got one of those annoying brains that can't help picking fault in something. I've played the album about 20 times, each time it seems to go through quicker but I've not found anything to pick out as fault. The lyrics great, the delivery if the lines perfect due to the composition and arrangement. The varied topics from the global, political to the personal. It's top quality music that my soul rarely receives nowadays. As for don't go and healing, with years on the clock these songs have poignent meaning to me.

I know what you mean. As much as love Depeche Mode stuff I’m always disappointed with the albums. But Bauhaus Staircase has next to no flaws. The only shame here is if this came out in the 80’s it be one of their biggest hits now I can just be thankful we’re still getting albums from such legends.

But a right handed player changing strings to lefty ??? 🤔
