I found late in the game Dart Spitter with the freeze upgrade is amazing.

I just completed the game on apprentice today. I found the traps Tar (extra fire damage), Ceiling Laser (fire), Grinders, Dart Spitter, (freeze), Window of Butterfly and Barriers the best default load out for me.

Agreed on the ceiling lasers and stone staff. The new saw blade shooter is great in doorways or lanes made by barricades as well (the saw will bounce down the barricade lane)

Hey is anyone able to share some tips on how to unlock Special unlocks for traps. Only just started and would love to be able to unlock a few that I’ve been playing with.

This game has no waifus and therefore it's absolutely inferior to DD2.
